As said power box for a start and good exhaust 4-2-1 and map it best thing to do for little money also respond well to porting and polishing throw some cams in you will have quick motor

Them power box things are pretty good for the money, it does "just bolt on" but you have to blank off the egr valve and it can take an hour or so to "just bolt it on".

But as Rich said
cams, powerbox to remove the standard mile long inlet and decent exhaust system would see a healthy gain.

OR you could buy some high compression .5mm overbore pistons, steel rods (with ARP's) coupled with some decent cams, an X16XEL head with head work, exhaust and remap and have a pretty quick 1.6 16v.

I know of some .5mm high compression overbore pistons steel rods with ARP's and an X16XEL head you could buy :) pistons and rods are unused and still boxed :thumb:

1.6 will handle loads better and with a few little mods will leave a standard valver nova stood still. That's a fact!

Lol, i had a fairly decent 125bhp 1.6 16v, fitted with pretty much everything you can do on a sensible budget, and it doesnt touch a standard XE at all.
It makes 30more hp and 40lb/ft more torque.........

Thats a fact. ;)

Even with the spec I'm planning with mine (if I find some money to build it) I'd struggle to leave a standard valver, the 2.0 would probably take it at the top end due to the gearing.

And 2.0 16v conversions can be made to handle just as well as a small block 16v conversion, its just less effort to make it handle well with a small block 16v.
