Right i think my propblem is the speed sensor why my car cuts out at junction and stopin after reading other posts..
my question is how do i do this as my speedo is mk1 nova cable driven and my gbox is cable driven any advise please as this is really frustration when stopping and it cutting out all time
You need a SPI transducer and SPI speedo cable
Wire that in, blue/red to ecu, black ignition live, and brown to earth

hmm will a standard nova cable do? and where/ how can i get a spi parts from cheers for reply
The speed sensor you need that screws into the gearbox where your speedo cable presently does so
It is from a 1.2/1.4 SPI nova, the speedo cable, which is different to the standard one, then screws in the top of the transducer/speed sensor
Then wire it in
Thought yours was a 1.6 8v, wasn't aware these needed speed sensors (the 16v do though?)

Oh ok then pal, im guessing there hard to come bu? is it three wired as i have a spare 3 pin connector in my loom im thinking this it it? its circular

Apparently they do mate..
C16SE is listed as having an AA transducer ( 6 pulse rate ) and the actual cable is listed as code HL

hmm where do i get hold of these the net isnt bringing nothing up

also thanks bazil
the AA type transducer was also used with the astra digi dash at times so that might be an option to go digi dash and AA ducer

ah ok how did the c16se run in the nova in first place? as they didnt have digi dashes in... was it the spi setup?
SPI means single point injection
MPI muliti point injection is on both the E16 and C16 but the C16 has more sensors on the engine etc, it used the same speedo cable as the spi to do the same job, to tell the ecu the speed of the car
the E16 never used this setup, it only worked of engine speed

I know this but what im trying to ask is what was the setup on the c16 as standard was it the spi vss and spi speedo cable or was it a differnt setup.
What i dont understand is was there a differnt clocks given to c16 engines or gbox or somthing?

Did you not read this ? :)
the only thing common on spi and c16 is the speedo cable,
it still drives the clocks the same as your current cable but it also has a few electrical wires that plug into your loom,

I did Read it yes but people saying spi this c16 tha got me abit confused. never mind thanks
so a spi speedo cable will do the job, rather than going digtal?

this ill start from beging make it clearer sorry guys..
Right i have my c16se curently running a standard cable resultinh in me stalling at every junction, because i dont have a VSS...
Speedo cable side..
The question is what parts do i need that are easier to get hold of, and what cars could i salvage them off?
Wiring side...
The cable on my loom is a circular clip about size of a 1p and is solid bar 3 circul holes where a 3 pic conection goes..
Sorry about this guys its just anoying me atm lol
fcuk me ill get you a picture LOL lol

the cable speedo drive comes out the top of this and goes to your clocks the wires go to the plug on the loom.
Here is a pic of the set up you need

thanks edd, ive just clambered through shoite in the garage to get into the gte to find my cable and got dirty, took pics and came back in to see you beet me to it lollol
lol sorry
That pic was from the load I have for my mega Sport update, can't be fooked with it ATM so posted it up lol

is it true AA is 8 Pulse some one says on Mig dont i need 6 Pulse?
Seeing as on EPC it lists a AA type one I would 100% say that is correct
Had a look on Mig could see a thread about vss/speed sensors ?

Hmm ok just this guy put
I think some corsas used AA (I might be wrong).
AH were 6 imp
AK were 16 imp
AA were (possibly) 8 imp
I'd would go with what EPC says not someone who 'thinks' they know on MIG tbh

Ok then cant find one of these any where what cars have/ had them on and what do i need to ask for at scrappers? or when ringing aouto company up?
if you ask at scrappie they are likely to not know if they have any( they wont be arsed to go an look just tell the you want some random small part an see what else you find
what car did the engine come from ?
i may be wrong but i m sure 1.2 corsa had them
go to babingtons at cross green its quite big you should find one there . also theres another scrapie round corner from them
Try astra mk3 1.6 they had the c16 fitted too
You'll want a car without abs iirc
Early corsa's Should have the same setup, Not sure. Later ones are obv fully electrical.
