Started the c16xe tonight, everything is spot on apart from this small problem. Idles perfect, small revs fine, can hold revs but when it sits on idle and you rev it to just say 3k+ ,let the foot off and instead of sitting back at around 900rpm again it just cuts out?

I've read this could be the Vss? By that I presume it's the speed sender? Does it just need a clean or replacement? Any help would be great :)

Yeah sounds like VSS it senses speed and feeds it to the ECU so it idles properly when coming to stop, without one it will cut out whenever you stop.

Also Where does it go? i have 2 spare wires on my loom ones a green/blue one i think, this comes out from the timin sensore and oil sensor wires? and also a a three wite circul plug one that is in the same reagion

Vehicle Speed Sensor (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vehicle-Speed-Sensor-VSS-ACURA-HONDA-ACCORD-LX-EX-/330545865191?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf611a1e7) where can i get hold of this and how does it work as my gbox is just cable driven.....

Is there any fault codes coming up?

I had a similar problem when i fitted mine into the rally car, i had messed around with the loom and would you believe you can actually plug the throtle position sensor into the lamba and the lamba into the tps lol

They both fit with exactly the same plugs :wtf:

I still need to check the fault codes mate. I'm 99% sure that the loom is all plugged in correctly, it's a standard untouched engine loom so only really fits one way, I also labled all the plugs to stop confusion.

It's a strange one because it will sit and idle fine and small revs are ok but it's the big revs that it cuts out at, I could just need a proper run mind you, it has only just been overhauled lol.

Every time you start the car the ecu is reset and its only when you rev it that the fault codes appear matey :thumb:

Sounds daft i know but its true as i had many similar issues with mine, which resulted in many an hours head scratching lol

Time for the multimeter again then lol, will try the fault codes first, didnt through up any dash lights but then again why would it.

Basically you need one of these connected into the top of your gearbox connected to the speedo drive and the speedo cable, the wires are also needed so the ecu sees a signal.

My 16xe turbo does this, exactly the same symptoms, i connected the vss up and it made no difference, i then cleaned the icv out and it cured the problem briefly then it did it again so i am going to try another icv at the weekend. might be worth a try if you do the same lol

Compton have you had the ecu remapped though, it might be sending a duff signal from the vss to the ecu due to the fueling?

No the ECU is standard with a boost sensitive switch wired into the tps.

Well I think you could also do with a remap then as the fueling could be all over the place which won't be helping your engine long term.

lol yeah it would benefit from it but its been built and running in different vehicles for 5 years or so iirc and it hasnt gone bang yet lol.

Back to cutting out though, a year or so ago i had a corsa sport x16xe come into work with a cutting out problem that we spent countless hours swapping sensors, reading live data, road testing all seemed fine, We advised the customer to go to an auto electrician down the road and he pinned down the fault to be an itermittent problem with the ecu.

lol that's the problem with X16xe's though, the immobiliser and transponders are the source to the ecu so if they start going tits up then the ecu always struggles.

Btw I hope you havn't jinxed yourself with your early quote

Southie i already have a speedsender on and plugged in lol seemed fine when i fitted it, looked clean and healthy, but that doesnt always mean in works
As for the tps ill also give that a go, fault codes first though as that might tell me the problem straight away, heres hoping.

The engine ran fine when i last had it a couple of years ago, has done 0 miles since, just sat. but it didnt have a vss as it was in a m reg corsa. so could be the vss as i sourced one from a guy on here. But saying that i used everything from a donor c16xe (tps, loom,tb) etc as everything from my c16 "dissapeared" apart from the block, head and internals.

Ive just bought a digital dash so when i plug in the new transducer will that sort the vss side of things or does it still screw into the top?
