I need a new pair of number plates for my SR, but I don't want them in the gay hat new font, as it just looks wrong on an 80's car. I know the old font is only very sightly different, with only a few letters being a different shape, but I still would llike the old font.
the question: does anyone know what the name of the font is called? its the same as the new font, but new and old versions. i've seen it before somewhere but cant remember what it is. i think its some blokes name, like ***** ****** old, and ***** ****** new.

I've asked a few places, and even checked on our signam number plate machine, but found nothing. everyone thinks i'm either mad, or just a pedantic ****er lol

Is this the "old style" Charles wright font? As this is the original rear numberplate that came with my car, and I'd love to get a front one made up with the same dealer badge and font.

Speaking of old style number plates, you reckon I can get one of the old black and white ones to use on my nova?? Or are they only for a certain year??

No, they are only legal on vehicles registered before 1st january 1973.

Technically, getting numberplates made up in the "old" font is illegal too, as I'm sure all plates manufactured after 2001 or whatever need to be to the new specifications.

I got the old font and dealer graphics on the plates for my Nova Sport and my dads Manta from a place in Belfast. Probably not much use to you, but it can be done!:thumb:

I thought there was a massive crackdown on "show plates" and the likes a year or two ago as well, but nothing has changed. It's still very easy to get legal looking plates that don't conform exactly to the standards made up.

If they were made pre-2001 then it's all good to rock the old fonts.

Who says they weren't? (Except my incorrect camera date!) lol
