Can you run the ordinary fabric overbraid hose through the car or does it have to be stainless?!

Will only be a temporary thing until I can afford proper stuff, just need to check it won't fail MOT with it?

Shouldn't be a mot fail at all, As long as its out of the way and secure. People mount fuel pumps and that in the boot with normal hose.

If I'm wrong somebody will be along shortly to make me look like a noob :(

its only cos I can't justify paying £50 for enough braided hose when I'm on a mission to get the Nova MOT'd for PVS lol

Why not go under the car as normal Rich?

The brake line is through the car too and the P clips I've ordered are the right size for the brake line and fuel hose to fit in together, as I always planned to run through for when it goes road rallying etc. Only a case of drilling a couple of holes and fitting grommets

Ah I see but couldn't you just run standard lines for the time being gor the Mot.

Far easier to just run through car... lol I was just checking that the rubber/fabric overbraid stuff was ok.

Who ever you take the car too ask them beforehand IMO to see if they'll pass it once fitted.

If you're doing road rallying, then your car has to meet MSA safety regs, that means fuel lines through the car have to be metal braided or hydraulic grade hose.

You might find hydraulic hose cheaper than posh shiny stainless braided pipe.

Yep it will be upgraded before I do any road rallying, this is just a temporary measure to get it tested for PVS

just get it done once. if you want cheap, just get some petrol safe 8mm nylon pipe from a truck spares place, or some microbore copper from b&q & fit them underneath

That's the stuff. I used 8mm microbore on my GTE/GSi racer.

If you use normal braided stuff the car normaly stinks of fuel as fuel vapour seeps through the pipe. Better with the plasitc braided stuff.

tell me about it ;) i changed mine to aeroquip stuff (PTFE i think) no more smell :)

for the MOT he could just use the standard plastic stuff, as long as its hidden away under the carpet the tester cant go searching for it :thumb:

Hope you dont mind the smell of fuel.

Fuel hose breathes vapour & will stink the car out.

Trust me i know! :)

The other thing to think about, it maybe braided fuel hose, suitable for fuel, but run through the car leaves inside with a petrol'ly oduor, or "not suitable for inside cockpit" as Goodridge put it.

The only lines they recommend for inside the cockpit is Goodridge 811 hose, but at roughly £34 a meter, not cheap
