Remove rear heated window lines - is it possible?

I have just started to attempt to remove the copper heater tracks from my rear window as I have a van and want to spray the rear window black without the lines being visible afterwards, does anyone have any handy tips to try?

The only thing I had tried so far was to buy a window paint scraper (the one with a stanley knife blade in sideways) and kinda hoped this would remove them, but all its done is remove the coating off the copper tracks.

yes... paint the outside of the window.

we had a lorry that had its rear cab glass & seals painted body colour, and it was a sod to remove, just mask it up well from the outside & paint away.

Pull the windows out and weld in sheet metal,

If it is a van, then you are more likely to scratch the paint off the inside with gear in the back than you are scratching the outside.

also, black paint is pretty unlikely to stick to the glass without some sort of key or primer, so it would look crap from the outside anyway.

Just get some limo tint. Dark as you can. Window out to do it, proper job.

Bazils idea but the metal bonded to plywood to make up the thickness of the glass then fitted using the window rubber.

I've spoken to a few people who have tried flatting them out and polishing it up but none have been successful yet but it must be posible due to the veedub boys liking it

They normally get replacement windows without the heated elements afaik.

ive just heard today that if i mix 1 part Muriatic Acid with 2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide they come off easy (its the same stuff to remove copper tracks on PCB's) will try tomorrow and let you all know the outcome

love it! my good lady often likens me to Mr Bean, so quite fitting really, but lets just hope i have eyebrows left after!
