it all depends of how many times its locked you out. if after the first 3 or 5 wrong attempts (whatever it gives you) it will lock you our for a length of time, (usually only 5 minutes or so) then after that, it doubles, and keeps on doubleing.
e.g. first attempts, 5 mins, then 10, then 20, then 40 etc. but eventually it just locks itself permanently and its scrap.

he said its been completely locked now

but it gives you a few attempts, then locks. its not clear whether hes just entered it a few times and its locked for a preset time, or whether he's waited for it to unlock and then kept trying again untill it permanently locked.

then in that case its only fit for the bin mate. the last locked stereo we asked a dealer about they said there is nothing that can be done.
at least its a good excuse to fit a proper stereo though lol

Go Escort style on it and stick it in a sealed bag in the freezer then try again! Sh!tter for him if he's kanckered a Ford CD player though. They still fetch great money for an older OE HU.lol

This might work

Here are some solutions to try (Up to 2004) there is a hareware solution you can buy... expensive, I have one... not sure it's worth the money...

Here are some solutions... :

================================================== ===========================
Try to keep pressed "1" and "6" or only "6" and you should have more chances
=====
"10 locked"
-----------
1- Drivers door open.
2- ign, off.
3- radio off.
4- press and hold "6".
5- turn on radio.
6- hold "6" 30-40sec.
7- if nothing happens let it go.
8- try more times.
================================================== ===========================
"10 & 13 locked"
----------------
1. Drivers door open - leave open.
2. Ign. ON. - Use RED key only.
3. Radio ON.
4. Press and hold presets 1, 3 and 6.
5. Ign. OFF then back ON within 1 second.
6. Release presets 1, 3 and 6.
7. Radio OFF.
8. Ign. OFF.
Repeat the above the same number of times that is
showing on the display when you started. i.e: 10 or 13.

i had the exact same thing with an astra van at work... one of the lads ran the battery flat & then attempted to decode it with random numbers... when we actually had the real code..... so it was left with the multiplug off, and a battery charger on it, and the ign on for 640minutes, then decoded it .....
