Mk2 dash is superior to a Mk1 dash in every conceivable way. Its also a health benefit.

aye basicly the car would feel ill and it would get picked on by the other real mk1's lol. na really tho my mk1 sr had a mk2 dash and looked siht. to do it properly you need to change the heating ducking too.

lol the mk1 dash is stored for refitting when everyone decides they want cars with dashboards made from wheelie bins :p
MK1 dashes are fooking terrible

surely taking the mk1 and mk2 and taking the best from both is not a bad thing??

IIRC all of the plugs bar one (hazard?) can be re-used, but you will need to cut some of them off and reattach them so the wires are in a different order. If you can get all the Mk2 plugs it makes it a bit easier though.
You'll also need all the heater ducting from behind the dash (two "arms" reaching out to the side vents, and a centre section to go behind the centre vents), all the Mk2 dial cowling and what not, glovebox, undertrays if you want them but not essential, steering column shroud, Mk2 heater cables.
Mk1 dials WILL fit into a mk2 dash if you mod the top bolt holder on the dash and wedge them in! Saves having to use the Mk2 dial plug - or, if you're feeling brave, fit some Cav/Astra/Calibra dials.
Mk2 centre console will need bolting to the exhaust tunnel if you don't already have a centre console (thats if you want one). Ideally you want some form of bracket to hold the bottom of the main dash in too, but its not essential.
I think thats about it...
Oh, and it doesn't rattle if you make sure its in and tightened up properly :p
Certainly worth doing IMO. Its always the first thing on my list whenever I have my hands on a Mk1.
