About 5 months ago i had some issues with my heater, Cold air only and my carpets were getting damp. But due to using my car daily i could not rip the carpet up and have a look.

To be honest i thought it was just on top of the carpet and because the weather was cold.... but no....

If i sqeeze the sound proofing carpet water just runs out of it,

What is best option? Replace it? Dry it?

remove it, try & dry it, if that fails, then replace it.

ps. please have a go at rescaling the pics.....

personally I'd just remove it for good, but then again I don't use a Nova as a daily so its up to you...

It should come out easy enough, but if you really don't fancy trying, lift the carpet up as much as you can and screw up newspaper (like 5 newspapers worth!) into balls but not to tightly then if you can get hold of one put a dehumidifier on the passenger seat and block off the heater fan intake with a carrier bag under the bonnet otherwise you'll just be dehumidifying the outside air, and at least every 12 hours swap out the newspaper, regardless if it is damp or not and try not to keep opening the door whilst the dehumidifier is on, But tbh newspaper is your best bet or take it all out and lay on a garage roof on a really sunny day...... but as we've already had summer this year, the newspaper may be the only option, and if you can get hold of some, shredded newspaper works a charm.

Its probably cheaper to buy one as opposed to hire, Speedy want £140 for a week, and thats the shortest hire period, Agros about £60

....but then ud probably have to have that one in the boot with your shelf removed due to its size, hope you get it sorted sooner than later, dont let all that damp rot your box

I suspect you have a hole in your battery tray with it being that way

Have you checked ?

Firstly, re size your pics lol

Secondly, windfreek...you know what the edit button does right??

As for your problem, get the carpets out along with the sound deadening and dry them out best you can. Then find where the leak is coming from.

hanging the carpet over a washing line for a few dry days will help it massively.

Check the weather forecast though lol

Tried resizing but my host wont allow for some reason. :/

And i am sure battery tray is okay, I have take battery out and had a good look.

I am just worried this can cause an issue with electronics?

And As this is my daily run around could i drive with sound proofing? Or would it just be awfully loud. :/

Thank you every1.

Heater matrix must be fooked then if there's no hole in the battery tray

electronics should be the least of your worries!
Hows about finding were its coming in?
Can only be a hole in either the bodywork or the heater matrix, but then you would have noticed your losing water!

my old nova had this does anyone know where the damp comes from?

mowgli

usually under the battery, as you'd notice the knackered heater matrix pretty quickly.....

My corsa has no sound deadening under the carpet, its a bit louder but not that bad, Imo just take it out, dry it and if you find its too loud, refit it.

you can buy moisture removing salts from b and q and other diy stores together with a handy little plastic bowl which collects the moisture from the salt held in a cage above it for about a tenner. Youll find it in the plastering/wallpapering aisle. Be careful if your driving with it kicking around your footwell. Because the water in the bowl is an alcali and will eat through your floor pan like nobodys business if you spill it. They are great for leaving over night to remove moisture or leaving in a damp garage to keep dry.
The others are right if you can remove and dry outside the car that is the best option.
