Broken cam follower/valve rocker 1.3s

I've broken a valve rocker , got a new one to fit but is there some thing else on top of the oil valve lifter, as on all the other ones you cannot see through the hole in the top, i fished out a very small piece of tube out of the rocker box is this part of the oil valve lifter or is it a seperate part? I understand that i can fit a new one without pulling the camshaft Thanks...Ant

There is nothing on top of the lifter other than that valve rocker, but on the valve spring there is a bit that the rocker sits in.

there is a thrust pad on top of each valve if thats what you mean?

I think he is on about the round rod that is in top of the hydraulic lifter. I'd put a new lifter in.

That said I'd take the head off to see if you have broke a valve guide.
