Can I tell if my cam is worn on my 1.2 without actually taking it out? I mean by just taking the rocker cover off can I check it that way.
Also how would a measure it to see if its worn or if its ok?
to get a vauge idea take the oil cap off and run your finger over the exposed cam lobes, if you feel very rough or edges then you have a worn cam. and apparently once the cam starts to wear a little it will waer quite quickly.
i took a std cam from wills old 1.2 engine and the cam was nearly round lmao

Does it make a tapping noise as the cams are running round. This sometimes indicates a worn cam (or just not enough oil!!)

just take the rocker cover off, only about 8 x 10mm bolts and the cam will be fully exposed for inspection....mine used to tap like crazy cause my cam was worn...just swapped it for a sport one
As already said remove cover and check visually. as the followers are narrower than the cam lobes, there'll be quite an obvious step in the top of the lobes.
