check your final drive. the td gearbox already has the widest ratios of a f13 box. there are very tall diff ratios available.. or you could use larger tyres.

the td simply doesn't rev. so fit large profile tyres. then put the proper road ones back on for the trip home, and they'll help with the bumps...

only way to upspeed is f18 from the cav, my car will hit 133 flat out it simply wont rev anymore to get past 133, id need 2k more on the rpm to hit 140 i reckon, i wouldnt bother too much time and money for little gain

Depends what size wheel, tyre and what gear box it is (f20/f28) final drive etc.

Even if you had all the correct bits most xe's wouldnt have the power to get to it!

my escort van clocks go up to 140,so going by the rule,ford made them clocks,just in case anyone wants to play around with the endura de 1.8-they will always know how fast theyre going.And i guess 140mph is its limit before it gets uneconomical and ill advised due to a whistling roof rack.

RR speeds also dont count as there is no air resistance etc...my old cav got 96mph at 5848rpm in 3rd....it wouldnt do that on the road

Mine is going to be running a rebuilt xe over bored ect with uprated bolts f20 and 15/195/50 wheels should it not be close to 140

ive had 3 different cav GSI's off the clock, the clocks showed circa 150ish, the clocks show 140 and then a mark where 150 would be and they past that. :)

16" wheels on a 3.72 diff is 147mph on the limiter in an Xe.

However, I have only been in one that would pull to the limiter in 5th, the rest struggled over 130ish
