Hi, i am painting my alloys white and would appreciate some advice please, what colour primer do i use? currently my wheels are silver!,and i want to go white, also do i rub the laquer down after? or leave as is. what grades wet and dry do i use, thanks guys for any help and tips...Ian:)

depends what grade of paper to how heavy the damage is the heavier the mark the heavier paper you use

we always use gray primer at work on any colour

befor primer 800 will be fine

could finish p320 though for primer

we always use gray primer at workon any colour i did wonder if grey would be better as its difficult to see the top coat coverage on white primer going on, if you use grey less chance of any runs? :thumb:

i use it because it shows ever little mark thats all and you can tell better when the colour has covered:)

If you doing it with aerosols then grey is harder to cover.

If possible use the same colour primer as your topcoat....... The basecoat will cover a lot quicker (especially on the colours with low opacities) thus costing less on more expensive colour materials. And If it ever chips to primer you wont see the damage so easily. Simple when you think about it really!

Nick. yep your right bud, did not think of it like that, obvious really,lol white it is then! lastly when rubbing the laquer down what grade wet and dry do i use? just to be 100% thanks guys much appreciated :thumb:

about 600 maybe 400 for the laquer id say
