raleigh chopper, possibly the crappest bike ever

this is because some chopper has put one up for sale in misc... & it reminded me of many great trips into nettle patches, ditches etc... the speed wobble was shocking... we finally fixed ours by fitting racer forks & a grifter front wheel...

who else had one??

ours was the better model with the 5 gears....

once fitted with the aforementioned 27" forks and grifter 20" wheel, it was possible to do mile long wheelies......... but it was still like riding a bike whilst wearing lead boots.....

did you ever try the BOMBER??? it was just before the mountain bike appeared, and made a grifter feel like it was made from paper & helium.. i'm sure they really did use scaffold for the frame

are you sure that it wasn't one of those new chopper rip off/ cash in things?? cos they were renowned for the welds braking.. i saw some yuppie wannabe in hinckley on one with his laptop bag over his shoulder, and laughed, the next day i almost needed oxygen when i saw him dargging it home with a cracked frame

I had 2 grifters not long a go i restored one of them to a show condition.

I had alot of raleigh burners aswell but sold them all and ive kept 1 which i spent alot of money on and its immaculate condition i will never part with it.

I had one when I was a kid and I loved it, it was crap but I still loved it, then it got nicked :cry: me mam has never liked it when I put bikes in the kitchen (obvious place to put it seeing as the back street is a step out the kitchen door) so she always threw my bikes in the back yard and they always got nicked, damn bitch never learned and I lost a few good bikes :mad:
