What are the differences between an e16se engine loom and a c14se loom? And can I run an e16se on a c14se loom?
E16 has a dizzy, and no crank sensor or lamda,
C14 is coilpack with lamda and crank sensor, iirc the ecu is also inside the car but on the E16 it's on the bulkhead,
won't work IMO

No difference in ecu harnesses then? Just thought the loom I'd been supplied with was off a 1.4 mpi but there must be 2 different looms for e16 as I have 2 e16se looms both with dizzy and no lamda but the ecu plugs are different one is a lot smaller than the other.

there is 2 different looms mate 1 you have that came with the engine is off the later e16 has the smaller bocsh ecu . and the earl e16 had the big ecu witch seamans. the way i found it out is i went t try the seamans loom with the bocsh ecu and thort that bit strange so i took both looms an ecu to vauxhall talk to a old boy there. and he give me all the info on old and. new looms say the new looms were used on 1989 on woods e16 and were the best ones to paly with(chip and mapping). and he the guy that did all the digging for me a found out it was a group N engine for me hope this helps a bit more for u
the 1600 came in e16se, and c16se forms, and then the c16se came with either dizzy or coilpack.
so the 1600 has 3 looms, whereas the c14se has 2 different looms iirc.

Mowgli the C16 never had a dizzy, it's coilpack only with lamda crank sensor and cat,
I have both E16 setups on 2 cars.

bazil some very early c16 came with dizzy think it was late J reg that had it on
yep but all c16 and c14 ran with the silver ecu under the dash not with the black one on the bulk head
also the C14 and C16 shared the same camshaft and cam housing for coilpack so the camshaft didn't have a dizzy drive and a iirc a dizzy can't even be fitted to the cam carrier,
also both cars had a carbon canister device on the inside of the front wing, another emission control part.

hmm I'm pretty sure they were all coilpack mate,
Remember the later E16 looks different to an early E16
also the C16's never used a AFM on the airbox

sure the cam is the same as i ran c16se cam in my c14se and it ran lumpy on tick over and had bit more low down pull and i also had a c14 i converted to dizzy and ran on sr twin choke carb think it was a 2e3 or some think along them lines and i used the c16se cam just had to change the cam cam housing
and year no afm but dizzy seen it in j reg gsi

I'm sure its nothing that a few more chop blocks won't sort out lol

That's the reason I'm trying to find out so I get get a proper uncut loom and use that instead of my cut and shut one lol
So I have 2 e16se engines one early round cam belt cover with small ecu in bay and 1 late with square cam belt cover and ecu reaches inside the car.
That means I can now source an uncut loom for each engine.
