Can anyone help me please.

The problem i have is my xe was running last week for the 1st time. Until my cousin decided to find out what happens when you block the air off to the airflow meter to which the car stalled.
It them refused point blank to start again.
I replaced the spark plugs and left it open incase it had been flooded with fuel. Went back to it today and noticed the crank sensor cable had been touching the manifold and had melted a bit. Fitted new plugs and moved the crank cable away. .

Have you flashed the eml to see if there is any codes?

. . .it started up after a few attempts but it has cut out again there and is refusing to start again.

Could it be the crank sensor cable? Or has anyone else had this problem.

Using my fone to wright this hence the 2 part story.

David.

Does it lose its spark ? i have known crankshaft sensors to fail when warm.

engine management light

you need to earth the black/yellow wire, the engine management light will then start flashing any fault codes

fault codes are here http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm (http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm#bosch)

it will bring up 12 and 31 so thats nothing to worry about, look carefully for other codes though

Just took the plug out and its stopped sparking, could that be down to the sensor then?

Sorry mate my fone decided it didnt want to go onto the net last night.
The earths all seen to be ok. When you turn the key, all that happens is the lights come on the dash but nothing happens in the engine bay. It doesnt even attempt to start. (Almost like a fuse has went)

Is the plug on the camshaft sensor connected? The reason I ask this is because I changed my dizzy and forgot to put the plug back on and the dash lights came on but nothing happened until I re-connected it.

Yeah mate, even tried the old sensor again incase it was ok. But still nothing. Not sure if there is Mibby a fuse away in the engine bay somewhere.

Just because it wont turn it was as if it had blown a fuse.

Have you checked if they battery is working? Exactly what this guy said, get a multimeter and start from the beginning. Battery, starter, coil, dizzy etc.

Think ave possibly found the problem why it wont start. There is a wire at the back of the engine thats come off. Its a thin blue wire with a female connector on the end.
It comes out from the same sleeve that the thin cable that goes to the alternator is in. Does anyone have any ideas where it goes to? I cant seem to find where it goes to.

On the small wire on the starter are you getting 12v when turning the key to start.
