Loads, if the crank has snapped ill bet the block is cream crackered. Find a decent second hand one and fit.

you could probably pick a complete engine up for about £150-£200, which would be the cheapest and easiest option, as your better off taking the engine out anyway, and I would think you will struggle to find anyone selling a crank separately for an engine such as that.

I've never seen a snapped crank, any pics?

I'd get the 1.4 from a corsa B mate,

^^^ What he said.... I'd put money on the crank not being snapped

Ive seen a snapped crank before lol

But also agree with above two statements!

What is far more common is a scored crank due to bearing failure,
I've seen a few snapped camshafts though

I've seen a snappled crank, but it was on a 2 1/4 land Rover Diesel, if didn't sound nice running:eek:

But never heard of a Vauxhall Nova Broken crank, thought they're just about bullet proof;)

Got a 1.3 crank laid about if its any good......needs a regrind though

My mate thought he had the same problem on his xe calibra (snapped crank) but when we checked it over the main cambelt pulley key way had sheared off and it was just spinning on the crank when cranking the starter motor! I'd say check it again!;)

Nothing is bullit proof on a cars engine, there is always one way to break something!

As said above id be surprised if it was a snapped crank. I'd definantly just buy another engine if it Is though. I've just bought 2 Sri engines with looms, ecu's and gearbox's for £50 each so few about and cheap if you look around.

ive seen a snapped crank when i was servicing at a rally on a mk2 escort with flappy paddle gearbox

dont think the engine could handle the rev change lol

This is most likely, the reason it still looks in time

I would try and find a 1.6 8v mpi out of late nova Gsi or more likely mk3 astras, they are reliable nippy little lumps
