View Full Version : Dash problem, coolant gauge, fuel, dim light when lights off?
Right well got the nova nearly done today..
But noticed a problem, when you put the lights of the coolant guage goes off the scale ?
The rev counter is reading all over the place (its a Diesel btw)
Fuel gauge is the same.
and when the lights are off the is one dash light very lightly lit, the temp gauge is also lower but still a lot higher than it should be.
Any one had this problem before?

Have you got another set of clocks you could try? Are the ones youve got been working okay beforehand?
Maybe a dodgy earth somewhere by the sounds of it or the clocks have a broken track on the back giving you a false reading.
I thought that about the the tracks but they look ok. will petrol clocks plug in minus the rev counter?
you checked the earth yet?
Id say your alternator is to fault, general rule of thumb is if your rev counter goes awry (reads off the alternator on a weasel) then thats going pete tong!
yeah I thought that about the rev counter but not the other gauges
Id be replacing the alt for now and see what that does, it might be overcharging and hence all your other dials and such going haywire:tard:
have you checked for a bad earth takes 2 secs and costs nothing .... jump lead from battery neg to block
I will earth the dash and check the body and engine earth
Fixed :)
One of the earth tracks in the clocks were knackered, so I repaired using a earth strap from the rev counter to the fuel gauge :)
Very happy now!! thanks all
