View Full Version : Banded steels offset
When you get steel wheels banded does the offset usually go lower, stay the same or can you choose what you want?
You can choose dude. Depending on how the banding is done the ET doesn't have to change at all.
only a proper welder can do that.
normaly they get widend to the outside, the inches youre wider, is X2,54 and that goes off the offset.
so if youre offset is 49, you widen the wheels by 2 inch..
2x2,54=5.08. so thats 50,8mm.
49-50.8= et -1.8
but surely if the banding goes on the outside it wouldnt change the et hub distance?
Offset is measured from the centreline of the wheel
am sat here doing diagrams and scratching head and then feeling blonde!

what ian sad, due too the widening, the center of the wheel moves further outwards

Wheel width of 5 inches et 0 has a centreline and hub at 2.5" into the wheel
You widen these by, 5 inches (oh yes lol) by putting a 5 inch band on the outside of the wheel
New wheel width is 10 inches, but the hub is still 2.5" into the wheel from the inside, so the ET is now -2.5" or 63.5mm
Offset is measured from the centreline of the wheel
Thats a good point actually
dont know what you need?
do you understand dutch? www.autobandenmarkt.nl

After some 235/35/19"s but fitting is a pain round here they want 20euro a wheel to fit own supplied tyres!
