This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rBI4Pun39s&feature=related) came up in related videos and is more of a 'horror' crash

Seen that before, horrible seeing people skittled like that, and iirc i read once before there were a couple of people trapped under the car and it caught fire too:eek:

A dangerous mix of poor regulating and lack of spectator common sense. I have been marshalling before and spectators will be stood very close to the track...until the first car has come round then they all move back a few yards

Me and Andy were commenting on the sheer stupidity of some people @ the Rally Yorkshire last year, the woodyard stage in Dalby where the two sections passed each other, we were stood by the first bit in the far corner where the cars came through first and we could see all along the other straight and up the bend on the opposite side, and even after the safety car had been through, people were still continuing to run over the track or walk up it, we were gobsmacked, do these people think they will just stop all nice and safe like a car would on the road:eek:

Luckily we had a quiet junction last year on the Trackrod but plenty of occasions people have been crossing the track at the last minute, stood on the outside of corners etc.

I marshalled on the Riponian Stages a month ago and we had to walk from our junction to the next to find the whereabouts and situation of an Impreza that had gone off. We had to walk down a long downhill straight and its at times like that you really realise how dangerous rallying can be. We were walking along the top of the banking a good 15ft away and 5ft higher than the track and you still feel very vulnerable

It beggars belief the way some people either have no regard for the safety of the drivers involved let alone their own personal safety, i think one of my neighbours was marshalling on there aswell, do you know a guy by the name of John Warriner (way off topic but meh:P) and i dont envy you for having to dig out drivers that have bailed and be on/around the track with impending high speed rally cars:eek:

Nope name doesnt ring a bell. Southie rung me a week later and it turned out he had been there spectating about 100 yards away from me lol luckily they were fine so we just had to walk back and report it to radio point. Trying to get rally cars to slow down is impossible

You going on Rally Yorkshire this year?

As if, didnt know the tiny one was there aswell, aye me and Andy go every year so ill definately be there again, hope they do the showground again this year though as that was missed last year and was a good chance to look round the cars pre-stage and get your jap tourist on lol

Yeh there will be some changes from last year...a lot of people were not very happy about the seafront service area!! Our usual format is to set off on Friday morning, set up the stage and run through a couple to times to check (cue a nice play in the forest :d especially if we get Langdale as its 14 miles long lol) then have a drive over to the service area late afternoon then back for tea and a few beverages, before the rally on Saturday. Same again at night then home after breakfast on Sunday :thumb: usually a good weekend
