great race, was loving watching them all slide around the track at the start :d

I thought it was a great race and button should retire.

Funny how brainsnova hasn't given his thoughts on yesterdays race ;)

Stuart

Of course he won, he was racing for cake :)

lol still stand by that comment (the Button part)??!!

Great race today.

Button had a stormer from 13th. If only he had done better in quali...

Damn shame about Hamiltons accident. IMO he wasnt at fault, but others, namely Niki Lauda (pah, what does he know) seemed to have a differnt opinion.

Still abit confused as to why LH got repremanded for the Maldonado incident.

Pistol Pete
26-09-11, 10:26 PM
So, Vettel is 1 point away from being the youngest ever WDC. Love him or hate him, he has skill. But IMO, has yet to show his skill in wheel to wheel racing.

And yet again, Hamilton is in the limelight. The coming together with Massa in quali was just stupid. The one in the race, IMO was a racing incident and nothing else. But hey ho. Massa needs to stop crying and LH needs to reign it in a tad. Button is quietly going about his business and doing well.

MK999
26-09-11, 10:46 PM
Hamilton apparently complains that he can't see the front wing... Since when have you ever been able to see the front wing in an F1 car slouched back an inch off the floor?! It's called spacial awareness.

And I love all the "Vettel can't overtake" "Has yet to prove himself wheel to wheel" etc. Quite simply, he'd race up to their rear end, completely dominate them in out and out speed through a corner, and fcuk off, like he does atm, but from pole.

Keif

Missed an important word out of that. Double.

He's 1 point away from being the youngest ever double F1 World Drivers Champion.

I thought it was a great race and button should retire.

Ahem...lol

And it was a dry race so that should put the rain master quotes to bed!!

Glad JB won it after Vettel tried to run him off the track at the start!! He is certainly carrying some form towards the end of the season. Shame Hamilton kind find the same form.

Maybe a win before the season is out?? Maybe a race without a Massa incident?? lol

jb has always been the quiet & ruthless type.... his comment to vettel after the race said it all....

when he went to bar/honda, jacques villeneuve was the main man & would stoop to any mind game he could to screw up the second driver, and then make sure only he could drive the car, as it was designed around him, and was crap.... jb soon told him to feck off, and he did and during the schumi era, there was this one honda that finished 2nd in the championship.....

Jim
12-10-11, 08:52 AM
I used to be more of a Lewis Hamilton fan than a Jenson Button fan, but after this season my support has swayed to Jenson. In my eyes he is now Mclaren's number 1 driver. It's a shame it's not gone down to the last race of the season. I was looking forward to next year, but then Sky got the rights to view half the races :(

mowgli
12-10-11, 10:34 AM
it just proves that these cars need more than brute force & balls out driving.. they said at the start of the season that the cars are running at maybe 5 seconds off their true pace because its all about nursing the tyres... jb's famously smooth driving style is the key.. when he retires from f1, there will be a lot of people trying to get him into leMans cars or indy cars, cos he would be brilliant in either.

Andy
12-10-11, 10:47 AM
JB is better than lewis i think,in so many ways. His attitude is better aswell, lewis just doesnt seem to have the same desire to win as he used to,now hes just trying to be in the headlines as much as he can.

MHO of him, he's become to big headed and got to much fame money to quick, and the ability to think he can now have what ever he wants, so he's become like a spoiled kid...

JB imo has always been better, just look how his dad always reacts when he gets a podium position, that's the type of guy JB is, just like his dad, genuine and wants to be the best, he will only get better imo.

so, its that time of year again..... ferrari have done terribly this year, and the old traditional 'we are leaving if you don't change the rules' threat has just been made again... http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/95966

in the old days(most of the 70's, 80's & 90's) ferrari only won one race a year & threatened to leave all the time, they even built an indy car, and until f1 backed down, the indycar people really believed they were getting the prancing horses... they never raced..
so ferrari aren't that fast, they sacked their last technical director, who is now at merc, who suddenly are going faster.. most of the rich arabs are keeping a low profile & not parading their wealth, so i guess the red cars aren't selling too well...

Mike
06-11-11, 10:11 PM
Work are busy doing development aero for several F1 teams based on new designs of parts & panels :/ other then that not paid much attention since season closed lol

mowgli
06-11-11, 10:20 PM
exhaust blowing is out.. and merc has developed a clever front wing with an f duct type design, it stalls the front wing at high speed, but at lower speeds, it has good downforce, it makes their tyres last a lot longer at higher speeds...which is the issue on the pirellis, the cars are just not as fast because of the tyres, so anyone who can maximise the tyres will win, its simple as that....

Hobbit

Personally im really looking forward to it, anyone else ?

So who has handed Sky cash per month to watch it ? I have lol

Anyone else getting up to watch it on Sunday ?

Who does everybody think will win this year ? Will be a lot closer than last imo

This years testing has been pretty inconclusive, as outright raw pace is not what wins these days, but racecraft & tyre management... So until qually is over, we really don't know who's fastest yet... I'm guessing red bull will be right up there, but stranger things have happened.

Oh, i can't afford sky to be added to my virgin package, so i will be up trying to stream it on the interweb..

Edd
15-03-12, 01:44 PM

Apparently McLaren were already working towards the lower nose hence their car not looking awful. Hopefully that will give the Brits the edge, but its still ze Germans to lose, I know he's a little **** with an annoying finger, but great car aside he's still a bloody good driver. Lotus are looking good and will be good to see Raikkonen mixing it up at the front as he's a comedy genius in the interviews. lol Can't see ferrari's challenging so maybe pushed further back by Mercedes?

did anyone bother to watch the post race stuff with the video wall & the bloke & bird...?

it sort of put the anal in analysis... it was worse than the football stuff... they were trying to disect the start line bump, when we'd already seen it.. i survived 2 mins & gave up on it...

i visited my mum & saw a bit of the beeb coverage.. it is way superior to the sky one.. dc is a lot better than brundles new sidekick

Hobbit

Watched on bbc, even being a shorter program its still good. Only problem is trying to not find out the results before they play it.

I was going to look at paying for it on sky but you're not the first to comment on the poor sky program.

mowgli
18-03-12, 06:35 PM
no, button was obviously going to win, but the williams ****ted the barrier at the wrong moment..

considering the aussie tv director decided to ignore jb for all but the start, restart & the finish, i think the actual overall coverage was poor, but the whole world gets the fia official feed.....so some people were pleased with the coverage...

19-03-12, 05:34 AM

The sky coverage was ok imo, the commentator with brundle is a complete tool tho, didnt know which driver was which and constantly shouting down the mic, like when sky got the football it will take them a little while to sort it

Cracking race, bit gutted bout vettel overtaking hamilton, and I think reikkenen looks good

Button had a nightmare, as did vettel, REALLY wanted to see Perez overtake Alonso tho

Hamilton looks like he's taking it steady making sure he finishes, not taking many risks

Interesting first two races tbh, wide open I reckon

mowgli
25-03-12, 05:28 PM
the big question is did mr ferrari get on the phone to mr sauber...... i was in someone elses house trying not to upset the neighbours when i was quietly cursing that off that perez had, cos the lad was on fire....

oh, and his seat is, in part, paid for by him being a ferari young development driver...50p side bet on him being the 2nd ferrari driver by monaco?? anyone??

Edd
25-03-12, 05:33 PM
Not by monaco, next year 100% as massa is just crap now

I did think that the call was coded, but he was right on the edge at that point, then went off

I also thought the sky coverage was 100x better, no shouting from that commentator for a start, plus georgie thompson would get it lol

Good race today IMO.

Shame about Button, bit of a clumsy mistake. Hamilton is being consistent....thats whats needed to win titles!

So badly wanted Perez to win. Fair play to him. Bloody good drive.

lol @ some of the claims the Perez held back. IMO it was a genuine mistake. But i do agree that he may well be in a scarlett car before the season is out.

Can't imagine Sauber ordering Perez to go off like that..

The kerb could have trashed the car and ended their race..

Looking at the footage again, it looks 100% accident..

Great drive tho..

Button & Vettel both cocked up a bit today..

Tough for Schuey, too..

I see a Massa/Perez swap at some point during 2012, depending on Perez's next few results...

Vettel simply opted for the wrong exhaust configuration..

Webber chose (or was offered) the set-up similar to the McLarens and that made all the difference..

I love the tyres.

Can't stand them, you have the best cars in the world running on the equivalent of nova standard width tyres, but because they made them out of a **** compound that overheats and falls apart if you try and drive at speed on them instead of making them skinny as hell they managed to slip it past average joe and call it racing.

A procession is exactly what the 'racing' this season is, because everyone out there is just running a timed race in their own clear bit of track if they want to get anywhere... get too close to overtaking someone and the loss of downforce shreds the tyres to pieces... wanna win? Avoid racing anyone unless they're on shagged tyres running 2s a lap slower and you can get past them before your own wanli likki likki ditchfinders fall apart.

As for Vettel he's a cheeky fcuk with little passion for the rules but I like him, fact he's German and has a sense of humour is entertaining enough lol

Edd
17-04-13, 01:23 AM
IMO they've gone too far with the tyres now, the whole thing is based around them, not good

edd. the performance differential between the cars has been massively screwed up by the tyre rules, the fact that the car has to start 150kg heavier with all its race fuel, and things like drs & kers.. it makes it so much harder to get a car running fast immediately especially with the testing ban, which i have a sneaky suspicion that ferrari run roughshod over with all those track days they run with billionaires 'owning' old f1 cars, they must be able to sneak stuff in... and isn't there still a rule about shakedown tests, and having the test track over the road makes for lots of shakedown tests... then you have red bull with by far the largest budget, and a second team to force test parts onto, mclaren are at a disadvantage. also hamilton is a pure racer, he'd be dragging a time out of the car, whereas button is more of a thinker, which i'm not sure is the way to go to get a qualifying time these days, as the cars run massively faster in quali than in the race

well that only really leaves caterham and i think they were rather crap anyway, so testing components can't have helped much, could it?

one year toyota did what they do with their road cars & simply knock off a successful design by someone else [lexus] & produced a copy of the previous years ferrari, and did fairly well with it.. is this the car they still test pirelli tyres with??
