As everywhere i try i cant get it less than £3000 even on a diesel corsa b! i know im going to have to bite the bullet and id be happy with quotes around £2000 give or take a couple hundred.
Which sites would you suggest me to try?

Is the corsa the 1.5?

Maybe best off looking at something more in the area of a 1.0 or 1.2.

My 1st years insurance on a 1.2 over 3 years ago was £2100 so i can't see yours being cheaper than that.

Have you tried Co Op?
They are giving me good quotes at the moment and arn't on price comp websites.

To be honest, a 1.0 or 1.2 would probably be just as expensive due to claim rates!

Have you tried contacting insurers direct (best course is comparison sites > individual websites > phone them up and haggle)? Admiral/Elephant are usually first choice for me for a standard car, plus adding more experienced drivers as second/third usually drops the price a bit.

I'm assuming the car is standard and not modified at all?

Another thing to consider might be a pass plus course - it might cost you, say, £200 but only save you £100 on insurance, but if it saves you £100 each year for the next three years then its worth doing. Best off checking winth various companies direct though to see if it would make a difference.

I rang Admiral 30 mins ago and now I'm onto my third insurance company transfered from them.

Waste of time.

I really feel sorry for young drivers these days, some young lads just want cars for work and that, yet they have to pay through the nose because of boy w4nkers who have driven prices up by crashing whilst desperately to look cool.
2 grand to insure a car is fukkin ridiculous, you shouldnt have to pay that as a new driver,no way.
I wouldnt ever pay more than £800 to insure anything for SDP,thats just crazy, granted i paid £1246 for my trade policy, but my business needed that.

I'm 20 (21 next month) and I'm still paying £1250ish to insure a 1.2 Corsa B. Had my licence nearly 3 years too :( thats with Admiral by the way and they were the cheapest

Pass plus is only valid two years, And IIRC its about £75 (Although it depends where/who with), Which when my mate looked into it only saved her £50, Which yeah is £100 over two years (probably), but for the cost of it, Its not worth it IMO.

Have you got points or something? seems like a lot of money :S im 20 with 3 years ncb and my corsa c 1.4 is going to cost £620 with me and my girlfriend on it fully comp.

Back to first time insurance. Try insuring something like a 1.0 corsa on admiral or confused.com and see what comes back my guess would be around £2000 tpft

My 17yr old apprentice is paying £2800 to insure a mk3 fezza lol

Diesel is pretty cheap to insure in my experience. 22, 0ncb but 2 years driving, accident at fault, couple of minor modifications that raised the price about £25, insured for about £850. So I wouldn't worry too much about going for a 1.0/1.2.

I feel for you young ones I really do, just get your no claims built up and eventually the insurance will start dropping, sadly insurance is age prejudice due to the older generation being foolish plus insurance companies raising the game 20% in the last year.

No points but no NCB either...not crashed or owt, just went a while without a car so never built any NCB up.

Yeah its pretty shocking! il be paying close to what my dad pays a year on a mapped vr6 with 5k agreed value in a month on somthing like a 1.4 corsa (example) yeah im not going down the fronting road! theres no point in having insurance in the first place if you do that. but yeah will have to be standard as again if its not declared then its pointless having a void policy lol. I thought the diesel corsa was going to be a good route to go down as i was expecting the insurance to be about the same as a 1.2 of the equivalent. Il try a 1.2 nova/corsa b with admiral and il try added my parents to the policy il let ya know how many thousands it is lol

Not necessarily, I'm 30 this year and still have to pay £950 to insure a Civic. This is the most insurance I've paid since I was 17 albeit the car is a little better than my first car.

Yeah but at 30 you dont expect to pay close to a £1000 lol. even sent me close to the bike route as a 400 only costs £320 a year to insure but its just not the same as a car
