Im going to be painting mirror caps etc soon, will i be needing 3000 grit along with some soapy water for flattening the paint one painted?
Will i need to do it before and after lacquering or just after?
Obviously looking for the smoothest finish possible so ant help would be great :)

just after the laquer 2000/2500 wet would do then machine polish. just watch you dont go through on the edges.

yeh careful not to burn of the edges. but just after then a good polish.
feck that, 1500!! and if its really bad 1000.
3000? surely the backing paper would be rougher?
3000 is widely used and is also usually known as trizact, however its not needed
is it about the same as a scotchbrite pad then?
which colour :p not that that matters as no all the scotch pads are harsher than 3000

I disagree their fella............. Trizact is an absolute blessing! Especially on cured ceramic materials. Used damp on a sander it virtually removes all wet flatting marks from 1500 or 2000. Your panel will polish up quicker as well as holding its gloss level to a higher standard for longer. ;)

Regardless of whether your wet or dry flatting using 3k trizact will still give you a better quality result in the end. I know this as I have used it both ways for years. Im positive if you try it your end product will be to a higher standard in half the time and you will see exactly what I was talking about. I only offer advice that I know to be true and which will aid others. :)

I 3000 wet sanded and polished my whole car and the finish was amazing.
For a set of wingmirrors just 1500 them though to be the same standard as the rest of the car.
