it wouldnt be hard to re locate it you will probibly need to extend the wires and the areal lead then make a blanking plate to what ever size gap will be left around the outside of it

they normaly have a setting to witch you can select the screen angle so this can be done without to much hassel

some screens can flip out downwards/ upside down; though not sure if that would foul gear stick movement..?

Ive been looking for ages and have never found one that flips downwards, i saw a pink nova at PVS with a flip out headunit in a mk2 dash in it with some sort of fabricated surround, i did get a pic but its very poor, as above re-locate to centre vents is the best bet but it means hacking your dash piping up abit

no need to relocate:

All you need to do is order a spacer from autoleads (through Halfords is easiest) and then the screen will clear the dash edge (the spacers are cheap and there are a few sizes available so just measure up before you order). That will give you more space at the back of the headunit too as the wiring on dvd players is usually quite bulky. If you like this idea I'll get you the part number for the spacer no probs once you measure how far you will need from the front of the stero space to front of the dash above it...

The good thing about this is that its all reversible to standard later too :)

I've done exactly the same in mine as dave but found I had to chop out quite a lot of the dash in perticular the pipework for the screen vents! Also I had to chop out a bit of bulk head behind the dash! Dont have any pics atm but could get them at the weekend when im back at the lockup.

The only other problem I've found is matching the colour of the modified part to the rest of the dash but I'm planning to get that flocked or something!:d

Thats what i found with mine, i tried to fit a stereo and found it hit alot of pipework and also the structure of the dash, deciding not to chop my dashboard up and lose the windscreen de-misters i just chucked it in the garage and its sat there since about 2008 lol, i painted that in Rover Hurricane grey and it came out okay, jsut took hours ot fibreglass, filler and sanding

Would never fit it back in now though, once you fit an XE you dont need TV lol

Dont think matching the colour would be that hard really its matching the texture to make it look original!

Didnt loose the demisters completly but I did restrict the pipe quite alot on the drivers side!

2008 would be about when I parked mine up since too! lol lol

The finish is a bit rough but its all gonna get wrapped when I put the dash back in!:d
