Fitting an F28

Right im currently fitting an f28 and i swear i remembered reading that the box needs stripping and the speedo ring changing,

Is this right?

Also i need a differant gearbox mount,

Anything else??

Speedo ring needs to be changed for a F20 (Or other bigblock gearbox) one, Engine mount as said and I believe gear linkage mods too.

right had another night on this and its starting to piss me off,

Anyone point me in the right direction on what mount to buy for the gearbox, needs to be a solid one and alloy preferably,

The mount that i was given seems way to wide to fit :(

Which part are you talking about? I'm assuming you've welded the new bracket the the passenger chassis leg and you have the f28 specific mount? If you then want an alloy solid mount you need to get a normal drivers sound engine mount.

well i havent welded the mount onto the chassis leg yet as the drivers mount wont fit on the gearbox side

I have the f28 mount set, bracket and weld on part but the mount is about half inch to big and wont fit, do i have to box the chassis leg?

No boxing required. Just drill out/grind off old mount then fit engine and box into the bay. Bolt up all the mounts to it then tack it to the leg. Unbolt mounts, weld round, spray then refit. Have you read the guide? The rear mount holes need retapping too on the box. You'll also need to run your tie bars on the bottom of your wishbones if you;re not already.

yea i know the rear holes need tapping i will do that when i split the box to fit the speedo ring,

The problem im having is with the engine mount on and the rear mount on (ive tapped one hole for the time being)

I cant even get a mount intbetween the gearbox bracket and the chassis leg.

It can be very tight. What engine & rear mounts you running?

there the alloy solid mounts althou im thinking there not solid just uprated and when i undid it from the bracket the rubber was moving

i will try and get a camera sorted tomorrow for my visit to the garage.

May pop into my local motor factors and buy a standard mount for the time being aswell
