the suspension on the nova is very stiff, I was driving along and didnt notice quite a steep/elevated bit of the road which then dropped back down. not so much of a problem in a normal car but in my nova as i said, very stiff suspension so seemed quite hard. It was more of a ramp so to speak, rather than a small kerb if you see how i mean. As soon as I felt the car go over the bump i pressed the brakes and the pedal dropped to the floor, I used the handbrake to slow me down and gears, pulled over and pumped the pedal. It went stiff again like it should and its been fine ever since. All the brake lines are intact, ive not lost any brake fluid and it doesnt pull when i brake. Why could this have happened?
you have some air in the system, or the seals are getting marginal??

Could that bump have had anything to do with it
maybe the bump fella, my nova brake pedal went very stiff when i went over a bump and it couldnt break for a few yeards down the road. turned car off then on and was sorted. never happened again
It is possible, I guess, that you have bounced all the brake fluid up in the air over the bump, pumped it back through and it now feels fine, but I'd rebleed the brake system tbh, it sounds like air in the system to me. I know there's a bit of air in mine atm that I need to get round to bleeding out and changing the ancient fluid, and it does something similar to what you describe although not as extreme.
