couple of weeks ago i was offered a nova that the owner used as there daily then one day could not start,

today i had a better look at it and started to eliminate what it could be.

i turned her over sounds healthy so was thinking no fuel or no spark, has new dizzy fitted by last owner but was still the same, i checked wires and earths all connected so checked the the HT leads, plugs and firing order took plugs and HT leads off my SRi that i know work and fitted and noticed the firing looked wrong (BELOW)

so i came on here and on net and from what i found was same as the SRI ?? (BELOW)

any way after swapping parts i know work and doing the firing order there was still no spark from plugs but ran out of spare time,

anyone any ideas of what to look at and check/double check

possible hall sensor ?

Is the dizzy known working? The hall sensor is inside it.
Check the wiring to the dizzy.

earth out the king lead and crank the engine if your getting spark there your problem lies with the dizzy if not it lies in the coil/booster. :thumb:

i also swapped ignition amplifier for a known working one so its more likely needs new distributor ?

i checked all cables and plugs are connected and earthed

swapped (for known working ones)

spark plugs
HT leads
ignition amplifier

new dizzy cap/rotor arm
