I park my Volvo on the road and had various problems with it losing mirrors... People manage to drive into the drivers side one once every week or two.
Put a new one on the other week and to avoid losing it again I now park 'diagonally'; pull up next to the kerb then steer it in so one wheel is on the pavement and the mirror is not quite so exposed (as the large rear end sticks out slightly further than the mirror)
Just had a call off the local police saying someone has complained, firstly because it looks abandoned and secondly cos they've had "several near misses" with this stationary car lol
