View Full Version : Loud creaking/squeeking - poly bushes?
I think my poly bushes are creaking/squeeking/squarking/quacking/clucking.
Seems to be fine & quiet for the first 10-20 miles or so then after that every bump I get loud squeeking noises from all 4 corners of the car. Can reproduce it by pushing up and down on each front corner. Assume they get warm as they've been over a fair few bumps which causes the noise to get louder?
Is there a quick fix for this as I don't want to remove them to grease them!

thats what mine are like mate on the rear axle.. im just gunna leave them and hope they stop squeeking.....
buy an ipod.....
what did you lube them with to fit them?
Did you use copper grease on them?
No grease when fitting. I didn't grease them when I fitted the same bushes 2 odd years ago and they were fine.

sorry to hear that your haveing problem's mate , i would remove and grease them , what road springs are you useing , could also be a balljoint makeing a noise . hope this may help
Try spraying silcone grease on them. AFAIK, some applications prefer to be greased up. :)
Balljoints are new so hopefully not. Sounds like it's coming from the front and the back too
Superflex site says grease them if some is provided, however they didn't come with any.
Might cancel my alignment booking for Saturday then and grease them over the weekend...

that's if you dont want it strate away lol
I did want it ASAP really! What grease do you have?
use something light like vaseline. it won't rot out the bushes like some of the commercial ones, and copper clip is filthy

Gonna try some silicone or PTFE based spray from Halfords and hope that quietens it down

some of the penatrating stuff eat's in to polly and rubber so be carefull
dont use cheap stuff
builders merchants sell a silicone based lubricant fluid for assembling drain pipe couplings, it might be good for your bushes.
Seen this recommended on some forums: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_19 3267_langId_-1_categoryId_228375#dtab
Or this says suitable for rubber: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_21 4714_langId_-1_categoryId_165750
As i said, PTFE lub for rubber will work.
Never greased any of my bushes - just the bolts as per norm
Neither have I Prey, I've had a set in for ages and they've been fine. Never done the bolts either though? Perhaps the rosejointed lowered tiebars put extra pressure on the bush causing this noise....
I've just doused them in GT85 and it's still squeeking. Could it be stonechip overspray in the bush area causing the noise?
I'll strip them down tomorrow and have a looksy and refit with some grease.
Is it not the suspension doing it?
Which bit of the suspension are you referring to?
I have the same shocks, springs (new springs on front) and beam that I did do before. Only thing that has changed is new poly bushes in the beam and lower arms and rosejointed/lowered tiebar brackets.
Fit a radio and turn it up.
bring it up here lol and we'll have a listen
Fixed, hell yeah lol
I THINK it was the rosejointed tiebar brackets. When the suspension moves I assume it has to allow for a small amount of rotation as well as up/down movement
I undid the big tiebar nut and slid the spacers back and doused it in the GT85. Also given my rear beam and lower arm bushes a good spraying too
5 min test run and no annoying squeeks so hopefully sorted
