View Full Version : Head Problems
Right, I have bought recenelty a 1.3SR, according to the advert it was a non-runner, turned out to be the headgasket had gone, but cus of the ammount of time its been run like it, it has put a big grove in the head too :? , i dunno wether to get the head welded and skimmed or find a head at the scrappy.
What would you do?
P.S. i am tempted to get a 1.2 head for the better compression is the difference noticable?

just buy another head m8, there as cheap as chips & pretty easy to come by
if the ring starts around the exhaust side then ive ahd similar experience with a rover. what has happened is the exhaust side got so hot the metal in the head annealed (ie collapsed) causing the ring formation. this can be machined out (ie a skim) but the problem wll return again.
best off replacing the head with a 1.2 one (from cambridge and CP engineering ;) lol )
get a std 1.2 head and fix it
