Ok i realy dont want to sell this and i know if it goes im truely going to regret selling it but due to various things i have going on at the minute selling the cav seems to be a viable solution to some of my problems.
As many of you know i brought the cav back in last august with the 4x4 removed various niggily problems and a few horid looking mods. Shortly after the head gave in and went porous so around the end of september it got pulled in the workshop for winter and underwent a full rebuild.
having completed the car i put it back on the road mid january and have sinse just covered 2500 happy problem free mile in it
basics of the rebuild consisted of
complete engine rebuild including all gaskets bigends waterpump cambelt ect and the adition of the following upgraded parts
H beam steel rods
arp 2000 rod bolts
coscast ported head with new valves and valve seals and reshaped combustion chambers
steel multilayer headgasket
modified turbo casings
saab red injectors
irmisher enlarged top hat
adjustable presure reg
and a few more little bits and pieces
this was fitted with an ap uprated clutch to a good perfect working f28 and a completly overhauled transfer box with working clutch and modified vc transfering 130lbs to the rear
The acumulator and all electrics were refitted and it now has fully functioning electronicly controlled 4x4 (as vaux intended)
durring the rebuild it allso had
2 new ball joints
2 new track rod ends
2 new front discs
front pads
full set of front polly bushes
koni adjustables on the front
bilystien rears
40mm springs
custom exhaust system
large front mount
mocal oil cooler
tinted headlights and indicators
boost and A/F gauges in drivers vent
cali turbo oil and volt gauges fully working
baily dumpvalve
various silicone pipes
ect the list goes on
the car is in very very good condition underneath and is one of the most solid example i have come across (hence despite the problems i still brought it as mechanical faults can be fixed shell cant be replaced)
all leather is in excelent condition including the drivers seat and the interiour is generaly tidy
its now also running custom writen chips with a custom writen map done on an emulator at courten millers on the rollers and then burnt to eproms as a result it does put the eml on from start up sometimes as a result of the chips not beeing coded (like copied phase software) the car is holding a healthy 15psi and is still on the amal valve but with a manual boost controller the chips were designed to hold around 19psi! at 19psi it will make just shy of 300bhp.This will be removed though and put back to standard software and will be available seperate for who ever buys the car to buy seperatly
car is taxed and tested about 6 months mot and about 3 months tax
now the bits that bug me but proberly wouldnt others
The paint work isnt perfect odd blemishes ect and the pannel bellow the lights isnt perfect or the grill but when all polished up it still looks very good but it bugs me as its very tidy for the age but not show standards
if i keep it it will get a complete respray next winter not neccesary but i want it to show winning standards
slight seep of oil from the distributer which realy bugs me as the seal was done when rebuilt nothing major and doesnt gush or anything bad but bugs me
rear door cards have a a couple of marks and the drivers front has 2 screw holes in it where the previous owner had something on it
slight tap for the first 30 seconds from cold start up if been left for a day or 2 again its a let/xe thing but bugs me none the less as its been rebuilt and it stops almost asif someone flicks a switch
the only other thing is that when i redid the bay i removed alot of the lower sound deadening from the bulkhead as it was holding water and didnt want any future problems. This i didnt realy see would be a big deal but it is now qite noisy in the car. its not silly loud but if the stereos of and you listen for it you hear alot of the general engine noise again not a problem but bugs me as i like cars quiet inside noisy outside
i know its been an essay but if your serious you will have had no problems with reading it
i would happily say this is amoung some of the best condition ones still around its a good strong quick reliable example and if it goes will be greatly missed
im after around the £3000 mark but im open to offers and will be looking for a diesel or similar
