a proper impulse buy lol.

have you ever rode before? - please say yes.

if not, then please please please take it easy. as rexy shows, alot of power vs not a massive amount of experiance = bad times.

As it goes, i have never driven any form of motorbike til this weekend, had a go on a blade track bike!

Bollox, Rexy got shunted off his bike by an old coffin dodger who had been driving all his life, you make it sound like it was Rexy's fault and it most definately was not, yet from the point you make lack of experience caused it, the guy who hit him was a coffin dodger, so had years of experience, second hole in your theory, i thankyou please:p

ive had a go on a 125 geared bike once, for about 10 minutes but thats all my experience

I know how dangerous they are and i will be taking it easy, im not an excited 17 year old thats just getting on the road. Its only as fast as i want it to be. A mate of mines just had an accident on his ninja, ive seen what he looked like.

I already had my theory booked for tuesday, so i was planning on getting a bike just not yet. Need to sell the astra now, anyone wan to buy a nova project? lol

^ one of my mates had an 85 year old woman pull out on him, he went straight over the top not even enough time to brake at 30. Its usually the other people on the road not the biker, although some bikers really dont help themselves

Lmao you've never risen a bike then jump on that.

Id love a motorbike but wouldn't trust myself on 1 id get a little carried away n to confident. I've rode plenty of bikes just wouldn't trust myself out on 1.

Nice purchase by the way.

Nice bike.

When I was 17 I thought getting a bike was a good idea, had motocross bikes etc most my life. So I did my theory, cbt and bike test. I have now had my licence 2 and a half years so I'm no longer restricted to power. But still not bought a bike because as soon as I passed my test everyone I told new someone who had died/got injured on a bike. And 90% of the time wasnt the riders fault. There's not much protection on bikes lol

Although I did have ago on a friends r6 which was awesome

Ever wondered why bike insurance is so cheap?!

I've always had a fancy for bikes. But a) I'm too fat for leathers (lol), and b) I'm never sure whats required in terms of testing, so I just never bothered.

I will only be riding through summer, once the cold/damp weather is back it will locked away. Im in no way over confident, its scary enough sitting on it running :)

Going to do a direct access course, im 23 so there wont be any restrictions

Very nice purchase. They only go as fast as you twist your wrist. ;)

I'll be getting mine soon as I've the spare cash knocking around. It's a rather shiney shiney bling bike to have as your very first though. Terrified of taking it out incase you drop it. lol

i did ride in the snow recently it wasnt too badlol

but in the summer we go to a lot of bike events like air ambulance bike run its like a charity event also most fridays nights we go to the ace cafe to see whats going on.
not sure if you know in the DAS test theirs two parts mod 1 and a mod2

nice bike mate.
not how far you twist your wrist it how to handle the power and braking i know alot of good riders that have messed up under braking when they have moved to a bigger bike. need to learn where to put yourself on the bike at what time as wrong body placement and very little power means hedge sky hedge been there done it thank god it was a smallish bike

mental first bike mate lol just take things steady for a good while untill you build up your skills and confidence. and remember: bikes are invisible to car drivers, untill you actually experiance it you wont believe that someone would pull out of a bright red bike, with its lights on and rider in white leathers and then utter the immortal words "sorry I didn't see you" yeah, thats because you didnt look.

Also get some decent leathers (bottoms and all) as a spill on that and you will be jam. without them, you need an inch of skin for every mile an hour your doing

anyway, best of luck with your test! and rep for choosing a Honda :thumb:

damn it :(

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Rich again.

someone rep him for me please

lol good. im glad i now have my story straight!

i hada few accidents on bikes and i was lucky.

my bigest bike was a bandit 600 and that scared me ever after 3 years of riding small stuff. i cant even begin to think what the cbr above would be like for a first time rider.

p.s paul your mental. did you bin it lol.

Crock of sh!t Jack lol, I can fit into leathers, it just depends what style you want. Shame I can't afford the bike I want :/

Just be careful on your first day out on it matey, a friend of mine tried being cocky on his CBR400 Super 4, needless to say he lost that bet.

Nice Bike though.

Lovely Bikes the RR's are, if a little uncomfortable on long rides.

That's a lot of bike for a 1st bike, take it easy once you pass your test and good luck :thumb:

cheers for that

I know plenty of people that have had 600s for a first bike, ive been driving 6 years i know how easy people miss you in a car let alone a bike. My dad rides so ive always had the extra look out for bikes. I dont need it for work so it will just be a weekend/evening thing, was talking to someone today that said the cbr600rr was the best bike hes ever ridden, he had an r1.

Got my theory tomorrow so ill post back the good news:thumb:

And for those that asked, im doing the week open access course so it wont be restricted

Bikes are awesome, I first rode a motorbike when I was about 5. I remember when I was still in primary school zipping up and down the back street on little 50cc bikes annoying the locals til 10 at night lol my riding skills impressed quite a few people a lot older than me at the time, I wouldn't like to ride a big bike now as its been a while since I rode one :(

Edited it to make it semi readable :p

Danny, no way have you ridden a 1000cc I've seen a video of you riding a 125 and you cant even stop it never mind ride it lol

As for a front end lock up and tank slapper at 130 mph you would have been off, you cant drive a car over 90 mph never mind ride a bike :p

I had a GSXR 750 as my first bike. I was on it an hour after passing my test.

In ths snow. I loved every minute of it.

Top bike mate. My bro has one and there still considered one of the best handling bikes. Just get some good tyres on it. Build abit of confidence first and don't be silly in the corners ie braking my bro lost the from end on his by taping the brake in a corner within a week of getting it. Lesson learnt. Lol

Looking at doing my test in September getting a gsxr 600 k6. Will be at boxhill etc

I can't believe you are getting that cbr with that little experience i have had a few motox bikes and had my bike licence for 15 years but my missus won't let me get another one yet:( .But if i was to get one it would be a 250cc two stroke of some description ie tzr reverse cylinder, rgv or an nsr because i love the two stroke power.Be safe mate:thumb:

well just got back from my first trip out, first stop boxhill, down to bognor (well nearly anyway) and back again. Went out with a couple of mates took it nice and steady, took it to 12k in 3rd on a nice stretch of road and scared myself. It revs to about 17k! My god its quick, but very easy to ride slowly. Just need to build confidence up in what it can actually do, for example turn corners and roundabouts lol

anyone thinking about doing the bike test, do it! Its such a good feeling being out on it

20-05-11, 11:37 PM
got my theory on wensday. what module 1/2 like?

Rich
21-05-11, 04:09 PM
mod 1 just take a deep breath and relax before you move off (make sure you do the mirror and life saver checks). mod 2 just ride as you get taught (asume your doing it with a training center?) as long as you dont do anything dangerous you will be fine. Just make sure you keep your speed up on roundabouts/leaving roundabouts etc. speed is a savior on a bike

The module 1 has changed this week, its now easier as theres no slow ride behind the instructor. He will just ask you to take a slow ride over the the next section and watch you do it. Couple of other bitsd changed but im not 100% sure what, i dont think theres a minimum speed limit for the fast manouver/emergancy stop.

joenova_gte

shouldnt be to hard. i havent done any lessons or even looked into it to far. i just decided last week i want to it and booked my theory. a freind just passed his test said its not to bad. just used to riding off road.:)
