Where do you keep/store your Novas?
Mines in a barn on a farm which is mostly dry but wondering what other things i can do to preserve it, without going for a carcoon.
Any thoughts welcome.
don't cover it in anything if it is in a building, but try to animal proof the building.

Not even an indoor car cover? Its pretty much tight against animals getting in.
i covered mine at one point, and some git simply stacked stuff on top of it... so my roof got scratched up badly.

Mine sits outside my house on the track/lane to it all year all weather :). So it's experienced a few cm of flood water and several foot of snow since I've had it :(
But the underside and arches etc are constantly cleaned out to keep the rust at bay :)

Is that dusty thing a GTiR?

I put moisture traps inside them aswell to stop any damp on the upholstery.
I put two big ones in the 888 last year and they were both full after a few months in storage. Probably about 1.5 litres! Might have been more but the crystals had all gone. Put three it it this year.
They are only about £3 each from Morrisons.
^^ that's a top tip right there!

Morrisons is the cheapest place I have found them at about £3.
Most other places are about £5 for these.

On the 888 I use foam pads under the tyres to stop them flat spotting aswell.
You can buy proper curved ramps, might get some next time its in storage.
Daft question time Rich, what do you actualy do with it?
Just sit it in the car?
Do you open the window a wee bit for air flow?
Novasport
11-03-11, 09:13 PM
I keep the windows shut. I put one tray in the boot and two in the car placed on the footwells.
Caravanners use them alot when the vans are not in use otherwise they smell of damp if left.
They are just a dehumidifier but a lot cheaper.

Dude, how come you keep it locked away? Are they really that rare? There are a few around here see.. Do you just get it out for summer then? Like the sport?

I have a company car so dont really use it a great deal.
Bought it in 2005 with 1440 miles on the clock when it was just short of 3 years old. It was meant to be my everyday car but I was given a company car 2 months later and I could not part with it. Just use it over summer now. Its 9 years old this year and its only covered just over 6500 miles.
For what it will fetch I am not fussed about selling it unless someone offered me silly money for it. Dont owe anything on it so not too fussed.
my pile of junk is at my parents house taking up their double garage, lol. ive had various novas in there for the last 10 years or so now.
you can imagine my dads excitement when i broke the news that my new house has a garage and drivewa, he could barely contain himself lol.
im also very excited that im going to have the car at my own house, meaning i can get on with my conversion and prove all the doubters that it will actually get done and see the road again.

will be 1 for the future definatly a future classic

You think so? Even tho you can now buy the kit off the shelf...
Fitting the kit to a non-888 would be a bit like building a GTE rep Nova though? Sure it would look the same, but won't be the same value as its not a legit one?

I have had my name down for 3 months to buy a kit but they have not materialised.
There are only so many parts left and no complete kits as you cannot get the front spoiler anymore. 888 apparently have not released any of it yet.
As said, even if you get all the bits its still not an 888. Mine is original, 2 owners, ultra low mileage and every bit of history. Might be worth something in the future but not that fussed TBH.
What would happen if a 10k mile Astra Champion came up now? May be the same for this in the future, who knows.
On the 888 I use foam pads under the tyres to stop them flat spotting aswell.
You can buy proper curved ramps, might get some next time its in storage.
Just inflate them to 40PSI, stops any chance of flat spots, and it's free.
My GSi is sat under cover, under my car port.
