I know there's a few of us from the N.E area on here, so if you could keep a look out for this Estelle and spread the word that it's missing that would be great.

It's my mates dads daily runner, and was nicked off the drive in Gosforth some time last night.

Save the Skoda jokes - they are good fun cars!

Cheers, Liam.

Cheers folks. I think Ron will have checked all of the yards etc today. I am waiting to catch him online.

Yeah, great cars. i drove this particular one back from Lincoln to Gosforth and it drove great. He had another previously with a bigger Felicia engine in and it was a riot.

Yeah Mowgli, not hard to get into, it's a low mileage very good condition timewarp, so you may be correct.

Mark, cheers mate. No word back from that Sport owner btw. I will PM you the number when I get it out of my other phone.

Wouldnt surprise me if its the same tvvats that have had a go at your windows. Has to be bored kids. Who else would nick a Skoda? I mean there are newer fancier cars to be nicked...

Hope you either get it back or get some answers.

Yeah, I live next to the Jubilee pub (near the co-op etc)

I will keep an eye out, I'm sure there is a blue one that kicks about round this way too, unless it looks similar

Grey bonnet? That used to be his too, but it's been sold now.

I always look out for your distinctive Nova when I am over there, but no sign yet. I have a better idea where to look now lol.

Ah Eshington lol. Get some herb nerbs for the derg etc. Cracks me up every time I hear them. lol

I will have to ask him if there's another then, I'd say chances are very high that you are seeing his. lol

I'm surprised at the lack of Skoda bashing in this post. I used to think they were sh!t years ago, but seeing/driving them has opened my eyes to how well designed and fun they are. He has another timewarper waiting to be put ont he road. 70's yellow, T plate iirc. SOmething like 30K miles from new and took off the road in the late 80's. Still has it's original battery and tyres. lol

I hate hearing of peoples cars getting nicked! It's a thing of the past now for the most part, but that's down to transponder keys etc, I don't think this even had a steering lock.

His 70's Estelle doesn't even have a heated rear window, so there goes that old joke! It amused me when I saw the lack of one. lol

i hope it gets found. it might have been nicked to go abroad.. old skoda parts are probably getting rare these days.... most of the old ladas in the uk went east years back

Yeah fingers crossed it's just been dumped locally and hasn't been an organised thing. It's a lovely honest car and is (was) in the hands of a true enthusiast. Not to anorak levels, but he sure knows his way aorund them.
I guess he's 'lucky' that they didn't take his V8 Dolomite!

He needs the luck of a mate of mine who just seems to saunter through life and everything works out. Example, his fiancee had a 1300 Mazda 323, we broke it for spares and he couldn't find the keys, so I broke in easily enough. He was amazed at this and slightly disturbed.
You would then expect him to at least fit a visible security device to their 323 GT-R right? He never, it was nicked but lucky for them it was found a few miles away by the plice, then the recovery company never even charged for transport or storage... Shame the tea leaves didn't also opt to pop the weather strip off and push the lock rod with a screwdriver. Barrelling locks is so 90's. lol

I just don't get breaks like that! Neither do many people though.

a neighbour locked his garage up with his cally & his house, car & garage keys in it.... i got in with no signs of damage within 2 seconds... he bought some way better locks, then got me to fit them....

Yeah mate. It's gone! Was gonna text you but thought you'd have clocked it on RR. Just remembered you don't get on there much now though.

I knew I would have a sh!t week. Thre windows bust and me wireless gave up the ghost! lol. Not much Volvo this week due to repairing/servicing cars for people and then helping fix John's Valvo today.

I wonder what goes through some peoples heads when fitting additional security mowgli. It's amazing how many of those bolts, shackles etc you see that are next to useless!

i used to work for a tractor dealer, we had a display of locks & hasps.. the farmers would select a huge lockset, find out the price & always go for the £5 brass lock & £2 hasp... to protect £100k's of equipment

maybe this wasn't organised afterall. Ron says his Triumph was at the end of the street, they only left that one due to the starter solenoid sticking!

Just been informed that this is supposedly at the Skoda dealership in Newcastle...

I have telephoned Rons dad (the owner) to let him know. I also rang Skoda, and they were less than useless!

Awaiting a report from a mate who is near the area and is going to drive past shortly.

Fingers crossed!

woops... it reminds me of the y plate 528 my dad traded in at a bmw dealer in 1995, and they used it as a courtesy car for a couple of years....it certainly made people do a double take

Incorrect. :p

It sticks as it has had to be remote mounted to clear the subframe. It's on a bit of an angle that it doesn't agree with. lol

Thats shoite, wtf is the point in burning it that nasty fukkers, if its not bad enough to deprive the owner of something they clearly love/care about, but when theyre finished with it why not just dump it, burning it is like pissing in someones face after laying them out ffs!

Its not like they need to do it to remove any forensic evidence, as even if they get caught for it, nothing will happen to them other than a slap on the wrist!
