View Full Version : 1.6gsi or 1.4sri which is best???

i have a 1.2 flair injection i dont want to sell my nova as its
fairly clean but want more power and have chance of sri engine
and gsi engine not sure what to go for, i have heard different stories!

As far as I'm aware both conversions are the same amount of work (and relatively easy on a 1.2 SPI). 1.6 will have 20 more bhp and 1.4 will have cheaper tax.

Having errm followed a GSi when mine was a standard SRi I can safely say the GSi is quite a bit faster once you get close to motorway limits.

how much work roughly? do i need to change the fuel tank? fuel pump?

Your fuel tank and pump will be fine

tank is fine but need a mpi fuel pump not a spi one

It's dead easy. Literally remove old engine, cut ecu plug off and remove ecu and pull wires through from engine bay, put new engine in, drop loom into position connect 5 left over wires colour for colour, connect electrics, fuel and water pipes, replace spi pump with mpi pump from mk3 astra. Hardest part is joining the exhaust but I just got a custom one made up.
