Mine loves water, especially when you spray it in his face from about 2 inches away, he loves it when there is a running tap, he dives onto sink/bench top to splash about....lol

my brother finally could afford a range rover & he loved it, but all the cats down his street liked to warm their backsides on the bonnet, scratching the paint as they did it.... he got an agricultural 50km mains powered electric fencer unit, made some little wooden stakes & ran 3 strands of wire round his garden & drive. the cats burnt their whiskers off & were in a terrible state, one even got taken to the vets.... but not one of them ever dared to go up his drive again.

me, i use pepper dust & it works.

ps. they will be back & crapping like hell after you mow...

I'm with Mowgli, pepper dust worked for me.

Sounds too much like hard work all that tooling about with spikes. Also it's not unlike me to end up lying on my front lawn on the way home from a good night out which would not be good.

There are plenty of harmless solutions out there , and really no need for anything that is going to cause injury to any cat.

I'm with Spud here, cos if i EVER found out my cat was injured through something like spikes or electric wires, well lets just say it wouldn't be pretty to say the least.

mowgli
09-03-11, 03:01 PM
hoochie, cats are a strange creature.... ever noticed why there are so many cats that disappear?? its cos they've been mugging some other poor family as well as the 'owners' and the other people have moved house & took the lovely stray with them........

electric fences are not an injury shock, they sting, but you will be fine after a few minutes.... these silly spikes are a lot of work, and to be honest, a cat can jump over them, unless you cover the whole place with them....

possibly the best solution i've ever heard of is - get some tiger crap from the local zoo... the moggy will soon leave the area when it comes face to face with that....

Hoochie
09-03-11, 03:08 PM
Very true, but there are folk who will harm animals for pleasure, Our cat has started doing poos on our lawn (copying the dog me thinks) and i am panicking in case he does it on our neighbours, they have very young grandchildren who are always there and it would be awful if they fell/stood in it.
I need to catch them to let them know that if they find any poo in their garden (even though there is another 4 cats in our street) then i want them to let us know so we can go buy something to deter Bob from going in...

I guess some people just don't care.....but i do..:0)

ok, the ready brek glow that you get from sellafield, and then the bullet wounds from the taxi drivers will knock people back a tad..... but they'll be better for it in 20 years......

I love that idea. its a bit like getting rid of a black mark on your sideboard by sploshing black paint over it lol

Best deterrent is a sonic cat repeller. Ive been trying to use one to stop the millions of next doors ferrel cats from jumping over the wall and attacking my cat for kicks, but positioning it so my cat isn't affected is difficult.

Why is it then a cat comes to say hello then claws the **** out of your lap before it gets comfy! Its in there instinct to hunt mice and birds and frogs and fish and just about anything else smaller than it.

i fell down with a ladder that my co worker took his foot off and ended up landing in a bull pen on the head of a large bull... i ran back up the ladder, over the wall and back down the other side.... professional gymnasts couldn't do what i did that day...

Actually when a cat is kneading your lap, it is simulating what it would do to its mother, its a kind of across between im hungry and want feeding, and letting you know that youre its parental figure and it adores you (a kitten would knead its mother to stimulate milk to be produced when it wants feeding, and they also do it for comfort) my kitten comes and stands on my lap, kneads my stomach and wont stop until i i stroke her at which point she purrs loudly and drools a little, this is because she was taken from her mother too early but looks to me as a surragate mother/parent figure.

A lot of what cats do, people simply dont understand, nor take the time to figure out, hence some peoples cats not being as loving towards them as they could be and some others not having good experiences with them, if youre going to have an animal as a pet why not do a bit of research into their behavour and mannerisms so you can talk the lingo to them so to speak, its like buying a car and not pressing any of the buttons in it because you dont know what they do, you read the book to find out same thing really lol

Take cats for example, when a cat stares at you it is asking a question of you, if you stare back you are projecting aggression and the cat wont be pleased by this (in laymans terms youre offering it out for a fight) whereas if you slowly hold their gaze but close youre eyes for a few seconds, this is showing respect and saying i dont want to fight you as im lowering my guard, the cat knows you are/want to be friendly and will be a lot happier towards you!
