just a quick one really i have heard that they are thinking of bringing a new insurance law into play so say for instance you have three cars and two are sorn and off the road you still have to insure all three cars that means if they are going to do this im going to have to get rid of two of my cars because i cant afford the insurance for all three does anyone else on hear know much more about this if so let me know thanks :thumb:

Its coming it. But you only have to insure the car if its on the road. It it's sorn then you dont have too as in the eyes of the law it will not be on the road.

Tbh its only correcting the law that's all ready standing.

Lmfao, noone reads anything these days, i seriously believe that in another 50 or so years, everyone will be illiterate and communication will be through grunting and gesturing, not unlike the cavemen used lol

Erm.... I didn't. I thought it was all cars too. I just heard a report on the radio however so not all facts.

Wouldn't listen to anything that even vaguely requires a brain to understand as you can guarantee that the reporter will get it wrong or slightly mis-interpret it to generate a reaction.

Seems to be working though, the internet is awash with stupid car related rumours, first it was the new MOT rules banning everything and now insurance banning second cars lol

I do have a query here, i have 2 cars in my ownership that have been off the road since way before sorn was introduced. I never get any sort of sorn reminder for them. How do i stand with these? Can i just nip to the post office and get sorn forms? (sorry if it's a dumbass question :) )

Interesting question! I would say that technically they're illegal yet you'd be fined if they were bothered/on the computer. Probably best to keep quiet until they are ready for the road and then just tax them. Once they know about them again you'll be into the SORN declaration anyhow.

There was probably some info about this when SORN was brought in but I bet it's not on the DVLA website anymore.

This all stems from a misquoted online article in the Telegraph, as people read the first few paragraphs and didn't bother to read the small bit at the bottom that said if your car is SORN, its OK lol

As for yours John... pass. Its probably noteven in their system, especially if its not been taxed since the SORN thing came in. You can make a SORN declaration here (http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/), all you need is the V5

Basically if its taxed its got to be insured, unless it SORN'ed..

For reference. My track car has never had a sorn on it so I couldn't do it online or at my local P' off', had to go to my local Dvla office to get its first sorn after being off the road sinse 06 ish. Might be helpfull as I'm sure there will be others rushing to check thier sorns due to this new law.
