Hi all, I'm currently in the middle of rebuilding my C16xe and bought some rod bolts, Turns out i bought the wrong ones. They were listed for vauxhall 1.4 16v so assumed they would be correct as they didn't list any for a 1.6 16v.

The part number Opel/Vauxhall 1.4L, M9, 16-valve rod bolt kit
[109-6003]

Does anyone know the correct ones that I need? And what are the above ones actually for and does anyone want to buy them!

Why don't they fit? Almost all parts are interchangeable between x14/16 and C16xe.

You will need to countersink the rod a little for them to fit.

hmm sounds like its all been listed and picked wrongly by seller if you ask me.. or a cockup by ARP..?
ARP rod bolts same on all small blocks 1.4 and 1.6.
As mentioned - caps need a chamfer milling/tuning though..
I bought those for my 1.8 16v small block and its all good; as its the same as other small blocks.
Link is correct though i believe.

I ordered the ones with part number 109-6003

The ones I believe I need are 109-6002.

I hope they refund me and i can pay the difference. I don't know what the other bolts are for.

I've been searching around for the last half hour and the only one I could find was these >LINK (http://www.part-box.com/opelvauxhall-1.4l-1.6l,-m8,-8-valve-rod-bolt-kit-p-6211.html)< and a egay link for them >LINK2 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ARP-Rod-Bolts-Opel-1-4Ltr-1-6Ltr-M8-109-6002-/250775203389)< cheaper here though >LINK3 (http://www.autoextreme.co.uk/arp-opelvauxhall-1.4l-1.6l-m8-8-valve-rod-bolt-kit-kit)<

Edit: Same as you've found then lol

IIRC one of the ebay listings says there is two different types, M8 and M9 (I guess anyway?)

The ones on eBay are M8 Which I now believe I need they list two different thread pitch's on the eBay ones.

Well I just spoke to Cordsport (parts box) and because I opened them :-( they won't refund so that’s £57 quid down the drain on 8 Bolts! Unless anyone wants to buy some M9 ones or knows what engine they are actually for?

It seems (from a quick google) they're for the 1.4 16v.

i just found this.. (http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/fact-sheets/page38102.html)it might be some use, but if you return the goods & pay to return them, within 7 days of them sending them, they should credit you the goods.

I got them in January matey as I've only just started to build the engine back up.

Anyways I have had to bite the bullet and ordered some new bolts now from RSR Motorsport, which after speaking to Bill Falconer he told me the part code I need as he didn't have any in stock(10 minutes on the phone to him awesome bloke :thumb: ).

So for anyone else with a C16XE/X16XEX/X14XE or whatever other baby XE you have the ARP rod bolts are Part code: 109-6002 They are the same rod bolts as a 8 valve engine and the description is ARP - Opel/Vauxhall 1.4L & 1.6L 8v.

The 1.4 16v ones that I have god knows what they are for (the bolts are silver in colour whereas the correct ones are black) Maybe for forged rods? So if anyone’s after some there are some here going cheap.

I can't see them bolts being for a 1.4 16v vs a 1.6 16v. The rods are identical between X16XE/X14XE.

I know that, thats what they are though. Thats Yanks for you though.

109-6002 - Vauxhaul/Opel 1.4L & 1.6L, M8, 8-valve rod bolt kit (http://www.arrowprecision.co.uk/details.php?id=69126)

109-6003 -Opel/Vauxhall 1.4L, M9, 16-valve rod bolt kit (http://www.arrowprecision.co.uk/details.php?id=70490)

Its a strange one.

i've just looked at the arp online catalogue, it does state that they are for a 1.4 16v..... misleading catalogue is good enough reason to return wrong goods..

I know, The bloke at part box said not a chance though as I had opened them. But I did try and explain that it was misleading and you would asume to get the 16 valve ones. He just said to try and sell them on ebay etc....

ok, did you look at the link i posted up earlier, cos he appears to be completely unaware of the sale of goods act.... time to ring your local trading standards office for some quick advice.

if an item is not fit for the purpose it was sold for, then it can be returned..
