Yes, that date is just to keep it at the same date every year or some bollocks. Supposed to be a good thing for prospective buyers... :wtf: personally I'd rather buy a car with 12 months MOT

You can't put 13 months on can you?! :wtf: what it means is if you MOTd it today (05/03/2011) then the new expiry date would be brought forward to the 05/03/12 instead of 22/04/12 which it would be if you MOTd it when the current MOT expires

mot runs out 21-05-2011

ive worked in mot stations go to your local station and ask if you can put 13 months on as you still have a month remaining and they will say "yes no problem when does it expire as it needs to be a month before"

Thanks for clearing that up then... so that means if you want to retain the 21/05 expiry date then you must do it after 22/04 .ie one month in advance, so you get this 13 months then....

But there is nothing to stop you MOTing now

LOL I was just saying to Craig yesterday we hadn't had an MOT thread for a while lol

You can MOT a car at any time to renew the 12 months. If you renew it within a month of the expiry, you keep the old renewal (so you can get a 13 month MOT). So if you MOT the car on Monday Baxter, your renewal next year will be 07/03/12.
