i'm going to take my engine & box out to pretty them up..

i'm not going to polish the ally bits, i'm just looking for nice std looking silver for the head, inlet & gbox, and black for the engine.

i have a huge great steam cleaner & a wire wheel on a 4" grinder, so the metal should tidy up quite well.

so what paint does the best job?? as i've had hit & miss results with hammerite in the past... is there some super duper motor trade stuff??

It's all in the prep.

I haven't had any problems with hammerite on engines but I took alot of care into prepping.

Another vote for Hammerite. Used it on mine.

Another vote for Hammerite, use the smooth stuff tho

I've always used it on blocks, heads and cam housing

I've never had to some off either, used it to do small buts as well on the Sport

Another vote for hammerite (smooth).

One cleaned and degreased engine block.

Then with a coat of the smooth hammerite

It's good for brakes too, doing the Signums tomorrow.

I've painted a few bits of the LET like inlet etc in Aluminium VHT paint. The finish is very good. I'll be either using that or silver Hammerite myself.
