View Full Version : i need help about my wheels, fast
i want a set of wheels of my mate coz they are v.cheap.
problem is they are 17" 205/40 with a 38mm off set, i know they wont go on and i will need more than just bending the rear arche's up, but what can i do. i dont NEED to get them but i LOVE them, they only ?300 and not many scratche's on em too! i dont wona put massice wide arches on the back coz i dont really like that stype, but i am prepared to pull em' out alittle bit. can anyone tell me what i will NEED to do to get these fucker's on! thanks. :o

Hard work m8, i've just put on 205/45/16 et38 on my GTE (lowered 60mm) and had 2 grind nearly all the lips off and roll em, and they still catch if i have more than 2peeps in the car :-\
O'well the alloys only cost me ?180 and they mint :-D
so is that all i need to do really, cut and bend and stuff? i thought id have to pull the arches out or something. u should save up for some adjustables mate and tighted to fuck. and if that dont work still, cut the arches up so the wheels have more room.

If i was u i'd buy some 16's with the right offset 4 that kinda money, save yourself loadsa hassle and it'll still look good :-D
Plus if u don't treat the arches after u've cut them 2 fuck it'll end up costin ya quite abit, so make sure u hammerite and seal it the best u can.
Ohh, you might have 2 pull the arches out, depends on how many people u have in your car and what roads you drive on. Mine rubbed like feck on the way 2 PV2003 and that was only with 2 peeps in the front, it's not catching on the lip of the arch, it's the inner arch when u hit a bump :-\ sounds painful, every bump cutting it2 ya expensive tyres :?
Save your money and buy some wheels in the correct offset. I made the mistake of buying cheap wheels and they totally f****d up the rear arches. I've hated my car for the past 2 years because of how much agro the wheels caused me. Hopefully I'll be getting the car into a bodyshop soon to sort out the mess that they made. I now have the correct offset wheels and they look loads better.
I can't force you not to buy the wheels from your mate, but you might find they'll cost you more money in the longrun than if you saved up a little bit more and bought some new ones with the correct offset.
