Are there 2 different types of sfi box??

my xe is bolted in but with the sfi box touching the firewall. i have the solid alloy engine mounts so there is little to no engine movemen. I would imagine that under load it will move around which is going to cause the sfi box to rub and bang against the firewall.

how do people get around this?

Is a powercap the answer here? or is there a way to mod the sfi box to stop this??

i am planning on fitting some carbs a bit later on bit finances are tight at the min so they will have to wait.

thanks
tim

i dont know if there is two different types of sfi boxes

alot of people tap it in abit,or bend it

best bet is to get a powercap if you can get one cheap,no modding then

Mine ran the Ecotec pipe, cheaper than a powercap

i'm sure the early XE had a smaller SFi box,

my xe has the sfi box fitted still.

Earlier ones are squarer than the later ones, IIRC the later one hits the firewall/scuttle panel.

Adjust/beat the firewall or see if the earlier one clears better.

Some people have been known to cut & plastic weld the back of the box.

AS ABOVE JUST BEND THE FIREWALL BACK WITH YOUR HAND i found you needed more clearance with the earlier one

also solid engine mounts will not allow any movement at all thats why there called solid mounts (NOOOOOOB QUESTION lol)

As grunt said the later one i found fitted much better than the early one but i still had to bend the firewall a little.
