View Full Version : Who's married?
Seeing as I'm getting hitched on Friday week, I'm after a few tips.
I'm not really nervous about it but it does take up a lot of my thought. Will I get nervous?
Any tips for the day before and during?
General info would be helpful, I'm concerned that on the day I'll **** it!
Aww.
Im not married but just wanted to say congrats and good luck anyway. :thumb:
Helpfull I know. :)

Best of luck

just dont get slaughtered the night before and get in a fight like my old boss did in everyone of his wedding photos you can see his black eye even tho he covered it in makeup lol
edit. have a great day by the way mate
don't worry about the wedding, its the marriage that needs the work.
personally, i wouldn't entertain the whole rehearsal thing... i told her that i was only planning on doing it once, and i meant it.
you will be dragged from pillar to post, there are flowers for the mother in law, drinks for the best man, pressies for all sorts of people, tip for the clergy etc..... just go with the flow & enjoy it.
and remember to party like its 1999.
Just do what she says, relax, and dont bother trying to talk to everyone there...
Afterwards, just try not to want to kill her..... for some reason they go mental after getting married :s
also, there are some foods that put women right off sex, eg. wedding cake.....

I've been married for 7 years now.
The only thing you need to do is just relax and flow with it, you'll be just fine. It'll be the best day of your life :thumb:
Anyway, good luck and congratulations.

i was only married 6 months so dont think you want my advice lol
i was very nervous on the day a couple of large wiskeys and i was fine, im doing best man duties for the 3rd time next year and that is definatly worse tha being the groom, you just have to thank the brides mades and the bride for putting up with you in your speach, best man has to be a stand up comic whilst not dropping you in the crap and forcing an early divorce lol lol

I got married in August. Wedding was a piece of piss tbh. All the organizing beforehand was the stressful/worrying part. As for the day itself, the only part I **** myself at was the grooms speech infront of 80 odd people.
Didn't enjoy that atall, but the rest..just relax and go with the flow.
Congrats btw. :)
by the way. irish weddings are by far the best i've ever been to...
Marriage sounds scary to me...
I'm best man at my mates wedding this year, I'm only 21, and became a godparent in January. All these responsibilities, as well as a mortgage soon!
Folks, piss off with the congrats. lol
Cheers for the input and all, its a small wedding so speaches etc wont be a problem. I'm more worried about talking toeveryone and not getting a minute to myself, that and the fact that I'll not get to see much of my 2 youngest kids on the day.
As for working at the marrage, thats going to be natral enough, after being together for 7.5 years and going through hell and back ( http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=128803&highlight=weeks ) we're rock solid.
Basically, I just want to know what goes on, whats expected of me and is there going to be an appropiate time during the night to play this song:

I'm married, got married back in summer 2008. Was with my girlfriend for 5 years before I got married. If you really love someone then it's the next step.
Patience and compromise is the key but I can't complain about it, being 27 and the wife 25 is a big plus ;) Disagreements can happen but that's life. You need to be chilled and enjoy your marriage as much as you can.
Im not married
Don't get any ideas either lol
You wont get to talk to everyone, its par for the course. You wont have much/any time for yourself. You will have to make the time for your kids...
BUT it is only about 10 hours so not the end of the world

If you have kids that is but 'tis true. Time for yourself only will be reduced most ladies get offended when you don't spend time with them.
dod, make sure it is near the end of the night, and definitely not the first dance...... for that you need something more like this..... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMsvL3nSKdU)
and definitely don't play this... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjJwqDa1QVI) or this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzglQ3T9ZJk&feature=related)
Well, 5 years ago when we built our house, I also build an 800sq ft Garage with a 500sq ft loft and since then have never had less than 14 cars at any one time, she knows its my interest and more importantly she knows it generates cash flow. I dont go out drinking anymore, go to the odd Rally and theres never an issue with any of it so as long as it stays that way we're on a good track IMO.
Stuart, my 2 youngest are 17mths and 5mths so they cant really be there for the most of the day, its not fair on them or anyone that has to look after them. Not ideal but best for them. Its not what I want but weddings are pretty much a woman's dream. We just turn up and say I do.
women stand in a church and think Aisle... Altar... Hymn. then they get ideas.....

That pretty much sums up what i was going to type. Only thing my missus still gripes at when in the mood is the fact i wont wear my wedding ring lol lol but then i removed that once my bum hit the seat of the car to leave the church, as i wont wear anything like that due to my trade, and now it wont even fit my little finger as that was 13 years ago lol
if you are doing the proper wedding jokes.... do the one about booking the hotel room, 'the receptionist asked if i wanted the bridal, and i said, no, i'll just hold onto her tits till i get the hang of it'

dan, i just flatly refused to get one, citing the same reason as you

No more Babys is a definate mate, believe me. lol
The 3 rings of Marrage.
The Engagement Ring
The Wedding Ring
The Suffer Ring.
But the Suffering came first!!
Arf Arf Arf!
i know dod, i was trying to help you navigate thru the minefield of wedding music...
when i booked the disco for mine & paid 50%, he asked did i have any requests, so i gave him a list of music that if he played, he wouldn't get the other 50%
Sorry completly inexperinced there and currently have no interest in that area at the moment so no advise, except keep smiling and i hope you have a wonderful day and may you life be filled with happiness and love with the person you share it with :) congratualtion

I hope my wedding reception is the biggest fest of 80's cheesy music eva! lol
Love it
Wow, that was a bit deep for Muppet Corner. lol
But thanks to all that have Congrat'd me. Bare in mind, theres 10 days left to come up with a good excuse so I might get off the hook yet.
Play some Kenny G shĂ*t for the wedding song  lol
The speech bit is easy....
"Thank you all very much for coming & celebrating this wonderful day with me............. Now you can all get pĂ*ssed & fcuk each other!"
lol lol lol
unless you can make a potato crop fail, theres no hope for a cop-out this close to the big day, dod, tbh its better than the alternative...
what would be an alternative?
There is nothing I can add to this thread so will just say congrats.
Although I don't intend to ever get married as I don't believe a piece of paper and a ring change anything, nothing really changes except her surname, and if the worst happens she gets most of your stuff.

bathfart, you are skating on the thin stuff at the moment..........marriage is a sign of commitment.... nothing more, nothing less.

Lets hope its not too thin as I'm a tad on the hefty side. I can commit without marriage, just look at all the time money and effort I've* spent on my car.
*With help, before Gareth sees this and gets emo.
Also, I say I don't intend to get married but I'd suffer for the right woman.
awwwwwwwwww now that is commitment

It would be a sham marriage if I married him, I'd only want his money.

Me? No sex before marriage, and I'm not married :cry:lol

im married, was a good day, just a bit on the pricy side. as soon as wedding is mentioned they put a couple of 00s on the price.
speech was ok, just have a little drink to take the edge off the nerves.
you wont talk to everyone, but meh, what can you do.
life doest change, tbh, it just progresses. i like being married, but its defininatly for the wimin, we had a great day, just a shame its over so fast.
good luck and congrats.
i managed to talk to everyone on my wedding day, because we only invited the people we wanted, not the people that other people thought should come, who we didn't know......paying for your own wedding is a fantastic thing...
Not married but just wanted to say congrats and have a fab day! :d
I dread getting married, the thought of everyone looking at me and having to wear a dress terrifies me lol

do what every other bride does..... book the hairdresser for 9am & take a bottle of champagne..... you won't care after then

It's all the faff beforehand that puts me off too. I'm going to need to live in a constant state of drunkness...especially when it comes to dress shopping.
Although I am liking Stuarts idea lol
7 days left, meh. At least I get to take 2 weeks off work. Bring it on!
