Hi all, i've not seen a new type log book. Is there still a box on there to tick if you break the car up yourself? if not what happens now? I just used to give the shells to the local rag/bone man lol

IIRC there is a box that you tick to say it has been scrapped. Date also needed.

nope the reson thay changed the logbook was to do away with people saying thave scrapped cars when thay havnt.
the way you get rid of shells is call up the local dvla registerd scrap yard and send it on its way with the id.
also john you should have a new logbook as i got the new style one when i got the astra i sold you. have you received it?

edit on a side note all i ever do is sell the scrap to the pikey with a hi ab then fill in the yellow slip and send it off as sold to scrap dealer/trade.

the red fronted ones?

Yes as said i just fill in the yellow section. As i dont actually weigh them in, i would do what you have always done John, pillage the bits you want then ring the local with a hiab get it taken off the drive then get him to sign the yellow slip as he is trade and he is buying the (whats left of) car.

then send the yellow slip off to the dvla to get it removed from your name and it will get officially scrapped when he takes it over the weighbvridge.

I noticed if the car is cut up into pieces you don't need the logbook as it's classed as scrap metal. Unless it has changed in the last 6 months.
