im hopefully going to see an astravan sportive tomorrow, but iv just found out it's the 2.0di and not the 2.0dti.... has anyone had any experiences with this engine i.e. power/reliability?

Ive got a 1.7Di an it goes like fook.

Yes mine is the Di engine. Its the same as a DTi just missing an intercooler.

the turbo is a low compression unit aswell. you had any problems?

/\ the turbos arn't low compression they are just run at lower boost (the way the engine was designed) - the turbo is as reliable as any other turbo as long as its looked after. Its not one we see loads of so that can only be a good thing.

Its the alternators & fuel EDU's that die on these engines.

Alternators are £100 a throw recon (or £285+vat new IIRC) an a fuel EDU is a £50 fix via plenty of people on eBay, or if your a dab hand with a soldering iron & a couple of teeny tiny capacitors you can diy it.

Oil pump seals seem to go aswell, mines well & truely forked, has been for 6 months or so now but its still not needed topping up with oil lol

I got mine with 106k on in September 2010 & its now just under 140k. Only ever had issues with the alternator (on 2nd one as first one was faulty) a fuel EDU repair in November ish & a leaky oil pump.

The lad sold it last night before I had chance to go up today..... Not impressed
