Evening all....
Got my banded steels yesterday, upon fitting them they stick out a fair way (an inch) just wondering I anyones had there saloon or more door arches rolled??
Iv looked into arch enemy and they've done a nova but I'm just unsure wether they could give me the roll I need?
Pics and suggestions welcome....
Thanks dab
If the wheels stick out by an inch you'll need the arches pulled out or extended? When you say rolled it makes me think of just having the lip rolled up to stop the wheel scrubbing...?

Il go try get 2 pics now to show you what I mean jack.... 2mins
I think arch enemy can carry on going after the rolling so it flares out too? Maybe that's just the vertical part of the arch lip, an inch sounds like a fair amount tho!

The fronts maybe ok if I adjust the camber bolts but I can't get it to sit low enough atm I can just get a finger under the front arch...
Grab the arches and give them a good pull, see where it sits, assuming they are solid enough not to come away in your hand as per mine lol

I shall have a look after top gear lol the arches are solid as far a iv seen I just don't want to ruin anything lol itl be just my look to break something
Give them a pull and you'll get a feel for how flimsy it is or not, they should pull out a good few mm, maybe not an inch but it's a start lol

looks like they will need extending

Just been and tried pulling them.... The fronts move slightly but the rears are solid!!
I think I will need some extensions like the ones in my avatar...
Bolt on jdm style like octagonal pauls...
Didn't really want to go down that route but I may have no choice.

I flared mine just a touch but theres near on naff all you can get on them. Remember they have the inner arch attatched to them so are bloody tough. Stretched tyres, adjust the camber and hope for the best? lol
I think you will be surpried what Arch Enemy can manage. Check some of the S Body stuff they have done.
You could always weld on mk1 Golf repair panels and blend them in.

The wheels are 8j front and 8.5 rear... They look pretty sweet tbh running 185's all round..
Il have to see what I can do the golf arches look pretty dooable.

Hahaa I didn't realise they wernt going to fit.... But they'll look awsome it the end lol
Il have to see what else I can do before buying some more tyres.
Could you not have had 175 width tyres fitted ?
That would give a bit more clearance
Any amount of tyre sticking out from the arch and you'll fail a MOT and get pulled by the cops
Do like Austin did, bend the lips out so there's no fold under, you'll need to cut and weld then to remove the lip, but you'll gain about 2inch almost and have alot more flare.

Golf arches are pretty much the same as Nova ones in terms of the way they flare out. The GTi arches look wider as they're bolt-on plastic extensions, but when you mate them up you realise they're the wrong shape. I know, I have a set in my shed. lol
Best way to widen the arches IMO would be to chop into them and pull them out, then weld a strip of metal round it

As in regards to the tyre width it's what I could afford at the time lol
Il sort something out I think I'm gonna look into them xr2 arches that were in the "arch extension" thread...
There bolt on but would look smart if done right!

Could pull the arches and use the lip itself to add more width when turned inside out. Providing they are in good shape that is. lol

Needs to be lower :( looks odd having banded steels not tucked into the arches
White writing on the rear tyre looks like your trying to be a NASCAR racer lol
I think if you had the outer banded bit done it White it would look lots better, just looks like wide steels ATM

I went to see the paint shop yesterday to see about having the lip painted White.. That's always been my original plan.
I need to get some arches before I can lower it anymore lol it already rubs like fook!! Lol lol
