rwd small engine????

i have been told someone has put a corsa 1.5 TD in a mk2 escort!!!!
i am well against cross breeds. speacialy ford.
but i have a 1954 Standard 8 and quite fancy putting my sweet lill nova 1.2 init. or a corsa 1500 derv lump. but what gearbox and back plate would be needed to do such operation??????

manta 1.8 ohc, but good luck finding one... maybe a later omega 2.0 one would be a better option

i have got a carlton back plate and gear box. would that fit a 1.2 8v

are they the same bellhousings as small block engines?

martin, when you consider that a f13 box is designed for a smallblock, yet a big block will fit it (1.7d, 1.8, xe etc..) it is doable to fit a smallblock to a manta box.. IIRC there have been some seven style kits with 1.3 smallblocks and manta boxes..

the 1256 is shyte and is only fit for tethering lobster pots.....

if i had a standard 8, i'd be looking at triumph stuff... straight fit & helps keep the value.

but i'd recommend looking at other makes stuff.. ie fiat twincam/lada box, bmw 318 etc.. the parts are easier to get, even a jap diesel from a vanette would be more compact.

the standard 8 is a relative of the tr2 sportscar there must be some decent bits about...... the dolly is a crap unit, and slanted over....

i got a dolly sprint and its the worst engine ive ever owned hint why im changing it for big block xe but you will be able to run a omega box on a 1.2 aslong as you use a 1.7 clutch or drill out the flywheel and use a bigblock fly
