Hey guys,
I've got a 1989 1.3 SR and i want a closer ratio gearbox to get my better acceleration, what are my choices?
I'm not sure what gearbox i have, could be an F13, anyone know what mine would have? (It's the original box) and what i could use?
Cheers :thumb:
I thought the F10 was the original SR box, F13 was used on GTE/GSi's.
The 13sb engine i bought a couple of years ago had a f13cr attached to it.
Dont know whether it was standard or not
CR box will be standard fit on a Nova, Not sure if F10 or F13. I imagine F13.
You could change the box for one with a different final drive, But I'm not convinced you would get a worthwhile gain.
F13 CR box with a 4.18 FD will see you right.
incidentally changing from the 3.94 to 4.18 gave approx 5% increase in acceleration with a 3% reduction in top end speed (iirc)
Interesting. Your gear calculator thing is handy for checking that too?

Early 1.3sr's didnt come with the cr box, was fitted to them around F reg iirc as i had one that had very wide 4th and 5th gears. So as said f13cr with a 4.18 fd or you could use a f15 gearbox from a corsa sport/gsi as long as you get a cable speedo drive one.
