been meaning to do a project thread for some time and i have finnaly found time to do it.
i bought the yellow peril at the end of last year of flea bay it looked fairly tidy in the pics and was fitted with a 2ltr 8 valve, we went to dover to collect it one evening after work with the intention of doing the bits that needed doing getting it MOtd and using it buuuut like all these things it didn't quite go to plan.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00383.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00384.jpg

we discovered a few rust issues nothing major but rust none the less, bodged up twist and go wiring for things like the fuel pump and coil nothing too important . and an issue with the tyres touching the arches and gearbox,

we came up with two possible solution to the last problem either fit differant wheels/tyres or flare the arches sooooooo,

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00385.jpg
the next time i arrived at the work shop andy had been busy cutting lumps off my car

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00391.jpg
the flaring has begun

new metal trial fitted to give an idea of dimensions

repair section welded in and red oxieded

at some point in its life the yellow peril was fitted with a fiberglass body kit, when the previous owner got hold if it he cut it all off (BADLY) and fitted gsi side skirts (BADLY). and a pair of cheap and nasty fiberglass gte bumpers fitted so badly the front one fell off when i caught it with the jack hendle.

the 8 valver was ok but general census was REDTOP so after a look around on the nova trader pages and flea bay i found a "complete redtop conversion all you need to convert your nova to xe" looked good (engine box loom shafts front struts full exhaust and a few odd bits and pieces) and was for sale by a member on here GSI-TOMMY,
so i borrwed a van form work and we headed to shropshire to collect, loaded up and headed home via wales to pay a surprise visit to andys family.
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00402.jpg

the next day i removed the wee 8 valve from the bay with the intention of fitting the xe.
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00405.jpg

with the xe sittin in the workshop all that was left to do was change the cambelt and water pump and start fittin it back in, 5 minuets after staring the cambelt change i was on the phone to GSI-TOMMY asking for my money back! the cambelt tensioner was broken the timing was a mile out and i suspected 8 bent valves,http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00414.jpg

i removed the head and yes 8 very bent valves and 8 very broken valve guides
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00408.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee501/mellow-yellow88/DSC00420.jpg
was not a happy bunny im still trying to get my money back from GSI-TOMMY but he wont even answer his phone, have had a few chats with his mum tho lol.

so if your tempted to buy anything form him DONT it will most probably be ****ed.

a few weeks later another redtop came up this one seems to be good, so im back on track with my new found enthusiasm

Looks alright, some off the styling is not to my taste but be interesting to see what the arches turn out like

Not good about the engine, did you check it turned over ok before buying it ?
I would of thought that other people will not want you spamming up their threads with your dispute tho :)

Looking forward to more pics :thumb:

the engine turned over fine because it had already bent all the valves out of the way.

Front wing looks pretty good

Inner rear arch is a bit fooked tho, maybe get a outer arch repair panel and use it for the inner, lots of people do it that way

Looks a decent project :) Any reason why you didn't just buy new front wings, surely it would have save time and effort.

Keep going though sough look good once you've sorted the engine and body work ;)

Bloody hell 2 yeah years since I last posted on here, haven't finished the yellow peril either, a lot had happened that ha prevented me from cracking on with her, aloof other cars have come and gone, but the poor lil nova still sits under her sheet waiting to be finished, I'm hoping to get to the yard today and clear some of the junk from inside and find some new enthusiasm.
