I'm after one of these as they're quite handy. Anyone got one that's not snap on? I would love a s-o one but just dont have the funds atm. Needs to be 1/2"
Something like this?

Any other suggestions?

I have a hitatchi one.

Not amazing, but I'm used to 1" drive 150psi ones in work.

Not worth the money IMO, decent set of sockets and ratchet spanners are better.

Don't get me wrong, it's good, but doesn't do up tight, or undo anything mega tight.

Matt i have plenty of decent ratchets and spanners and a good 1/2" air gun at work, but these are mega handy though for undertrays etc though. I have a good torque wrench for checking things are tight lol

I agree totally, if you can't afford it now, wait until you can, as you will just regret buying anything else. I've used various cheaper ones and they are just not in the same league as 18v Snap On.

I've used a sealey one http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&q=cp2400&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=12814135343071701660&ei=eN1gTYP0I4qV8QPjy4Fa&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDkQ8wIwAg#

works pretty well, does everything u need to do on a nova, maybe not up to the snap on one but nearly 3rd the price.

i was just thinking mate, if you cant afford one in one go, if you set up a account with snap-on you could pay weekly, thats how i got mine. i had to pay a minimum of £15 a week but i payed of more than that each week. if that works out easier for you?

Rich
20-02-11, 11:26 AM
sure john knows about paying weekly, its still 400+ lol

I have a mac tools one, and tbh i have regretted buying it since! its just got nothing on the snap-on one, snap-on is better than my airgun at work when at full charge!

Speak to your snap-on guy, they will do them much cheaper when the cash is going in there back pocket before the tax man sees it!

we have a really good one at work it managed to bend some 10mm thick steel bar over some washers 25mm high by screwing it to another piece with the washers in the middle. Hard to explain but its crazy power out a battery impact gun.

borrowed the one above off a mate at the weekend. wasnt fully charged as he'd been using it at work all day but it was certainly powerful.
cant compare it to anything else though as i'd never used an impact gun before, cordless or air.

just a quick input, aint read all the comments but in my humble oppinion save up for the snap on one. i use mine once a week some time not even for a few weeks buts its worth every pennie IMO. and the 3/8" 14.4v one is brill to

^ says it all imo

I've got the older Snap On one, the 480 iirc, and it's one of the best things I've ever bought tool wise! I paid just over 200 for mine when it was on offer (and if you're friendly with the SO man he'll let you pay it on an RA account interest free)

The new ones are half the torque again and use lithium batteries which have no power drop off as they run down so it has full power right up til it's dead. Not sure on the price though! (if you've got an old air gun they might do a good trade in)
